((A serious note: Conscription was never enacted in Australia. Every Australian who fought in the first World War was a volunteer. The Australian corps only made up about 10% of the Allied force and were responsible for more than a quarter of German prisoners captured on the Western front. Close to 10% of the population of New Zealand fought in the war.

Tens of thousands of men on both sides (Ottomans, Germans, French, British, Australians, New Zealanders) died at Gallipoli, and the tragedy of the conflict led to Australia and New Zealand seeking greater independence from Britain after the war.

Cheers to every man who fought. Though there will be, there's no harm in wishing that there's never a war like it again. Therefore: may humanity never see a conflict of it's like again.))

((Well, technically there *was* conscription enacted in Australia, but it only applied to the home forces. The Defense Act 1903 meant that Australia couldn't send conscripted soldiers overseas, where all the fighting was done in this war, so all the fighting was done by the volunteer forces. If somehow the Germans landed on Oceanic soil, there would have been conscripted soldiers fighting too.

......Does it count as pestering if it is background knowledge not related to the turn? ))

"Alright, lets see which of these fellows I can trust enough to hand an explosive."

Check with the members of the 1st Section to see who knows how to use the bombs, and then observe them to see how they're reacting to a ship getting destroyed by a giant tentacle.

"Well now! They're passing out explosive as if they're popcorn. No doubt I won't be getting none. Oh well, suits me fine. I didn't want to be vaporized anyway."

I just sit and bide my stay in the timeout corner until we get to shore.

"Aye, I reckon a smoke wouldn't go amiss..."
Noah gratefully accepted the cigarette, trying to stop the shaking in his hands.
What the bloody hell had that been?

Neat facts!

It's only pestering if you're asking me to change the outcome of something that happened in the game because of historical reasons, or something. So nope, not pestering.

I'm going to have to drop out. Sorry.

You were never even on the waitlist in the first place because your char sheet read like you wanted to be some kind of shapeshifter.

No.

adwarf/Carl Sanderson
You all trained with the bombs only once before. ["trying to remember how to use bombs" challenge (over 1) - result 18 (success)] They're dead simple to use though. Pull the pin and throw. Easy. Everyone except West seems all right in the head. Hitch saw you get the bombs and seems interested. He grins past broken teeth, thinking himself charming. "Go on Sandy, give us a few!" Ender steps up confidently as well, his cap tilted at a jaunty angle. "All right there mate? I'll give ye' a couple o' smokes for it."

All
Some time passes. The Lieutenant sings out. "3 minutes to the shore!" The fog refused to lift and the shadows of the shore were huge now. There must be cliffs ahead. "When the boat runs aground, leave the boat and head towards land! Do not stay in the water! Move up the beach and don't stop until I blow the whistle!" The sergeant repeats. "Move up the beach, do not stop until the Lieutenant blows his whistle!"

"Sir, yes sir."

To Ender, "Oi, got any fags left? I'd really enjoy a nice smoke before I die."

"Half a league, half a league, half a league onward it is then...."

Check the gun, make sure it is fully loaded with a round in the chamber.

"Half a league, half a league, half a league onward it is then...."

Check the gun, make sure it is fully loaded with a round in the chamber.
The quarters are too tight, unfortunately, and there is no safe way to inspect your rifle's chamber. You hold the rifle vertically in front of you in order to have a quick look at the action however, just to make sure everything is in order. You notice the striker is cocked. Your face feels hot. You must've left it that way when you loaded it before embarking. De-cocking the rifle while a round is (possibly) chambered is dangerous so you decide to leave it alone. You make sure the safety is active (in the rear position) and sling it over your shoulder again.

((The SMLE Mk.3 has a 10 round magazine plus the chambered round. Your sword bayonets are about 17 inches long. Adding in the approx. 40-inch length of your rifle plus the length of your arms means you have extraordinary reach when fitted with the blade. From now on everyone has 4x 5-round charging clips, all loaded. If you want loose rounds you have to find them. Reloading rules have been added to the OP.))

Edit:

((Let the feature creep commence.))

Lee-Enfield rifles have a unique (at least by modern standards) capability in the form of a magazine cutoff toggle. This means that you can use the rifle as a single-shot rifle until you require the rounds in the magazine. So later on if you have a mostly loaded rifle and lots of loose ammo, it can be a good strategy to shoot-load-shoot-load, until you need the ammo you have in reserve that's already loaded in your rifle.
