Once a person reaches the age of 10, they are able to train and battle Pokemon... At least, in most regions. But, not in yours, the region of Morta. In Morta, people can only accept Pokemon once they have lost someone dear to them, as the Pokemon found in these regions are particularly vicious. They will not stop to kill a trained Pokemon, and even the trainer themselves. So, the trainer must be prepared to lose everything, as nothing is permanent. This also means there are many different kinds of people who train Pokemon.... As they have all lost someone, and train Pokemon to protect those left, or to fill the void in their souls.

You are one of these people, and today, along with a few others, you are flying to the region of Morta, to become a trainer there. Your reasons may be different, but that does not matter now. All that matters is picking up your life from where it once was.

Welcome to the region of Morta, people! Where Pokemon die for real, and untrained ones are actually monstrous! Fun! This will be mostly RP-based, like the TV show, you will be a group of trainers wandering through the region, to defeat the Elite Four (oh yeah, and trying not to die.) There will be battles, and these will progress much like the ones on the TV show, as in this example scenario:

Etc., etc. You can command your Pokemon to dodge, and perform any attacks they have learnt, but so can the opponent. The outcomes will mostly be determined by rolling some dice, with modifiers and skills, depending. Your starter Pokemon will be determined by you, and can either be original, or from one of the pre-existing regions. It must be either Grass, Fire, or Water type. It will start at Lvl 5, and know two basic attacks, which will be determined by me, the GM. These Pokemon will listen to you no matter what, but ones that you catch may not be so obedient, and until you have levelled them up 3 times, they have a varying chance to actually listen to you, and they may just do what they want. This won't generally involve getting themselves killed though, which is good.

Name: Felicia Aethen

Appearance: An average height young teen, with long and messy black hair and hazel eyes.
Backstory:
Felicia was born in Morta. So were her parents. So were their parents. They’ve been there a long time.

The family lived in one of the quieter areas, with less wild pokemon than any other. They ran a small berry farm, and sold to the nearby towns. It was a simple and happy life.

Until last year.

Felicia and her twin Alicia had never left the farm before. They were curious. So in the dead of night, they decided to go to the nearest town, not even a mile from the farm. They were almost there, the lights of the town visible. Then something hit them.

Felicia was knocked to the ground. She was stunned, she couldn’t move. The pokemon ignored her for the more interesting prey.

If only it could be said she didn’t feel anything. But Felicia knows she did. The screams are etched into her memory. The next morning a hunter from the town found them.

Alicia didn’t make it.

When she got home, she was quiet. She’d lost her other half. She didn’t speak for a year, and when she did she said she wanted to apply to be a trainer. To explore for both of them. After taking some classes for the basic needs of a trainer on the road, she brought the family’s Turtwig (the child of their primary beast of burden) with her for the examination.

Backstory: Since she was very young Lacie worked at her parent's pokemon day care, she was never satisfied with the life though. So dull and boring, it was because of this she started to spend more and more time away from home. It was when she was out on one of these journeys that tragedy struck, when she came back her house had been burned to the ground with her parents still inside. She wasn't sure what to do with herself, for a while she stayed in the town but eventually she moved. Heading towards Morta in an attempt to start again.

Description: Lacie is tall and slim, standing around 6"0' in height. Her bright red hair hangs down to beneath her shoulders, she takes care to not let it rest on her face. Her eyes are a dull green and beneath them she has a dusting of freckles. Across her left cheek she has a long straight scar. Usually she wears dresses, unconcerned of their practicality.

Backstory: A forestry major from Unova, Cynthia married her highschool sweetheart, Joshua, shortly after they graduated. They promptly produced a little bundle of joy named Josh Jr and lived a comfortable life; she attending college while he worked IT for a major corporation. Sadly, tragedy struck when the adolescent Josh Jr, slipping away from his parents for only an instant, chased a stray pokemon into a busy road. He died instantly.
Grief-stricken and unable to look each other in the eye after the loss of their child, Cynthia and Joshua soon mutually agreed to a divorce. Cynthia moved to the Morta region and underwent testing to become a Pokemon Trainer, reasoning that if she weren't cut out for this new life then at least she'd see her son again.
Description: Cynthia dresses in practical clothing of primarily greens and tans. She has tanned skin, shoulder-length blonde hair, and dull brown eyes. She's fairly well-muscled from a lot of time spent in the great outdoors.

The son of a genius pokemon scientist mother and a above average pokemon trainer father, Marcus lived happily with his family, including his little sister. However, one day disaster struck when a criminal organization attacked their home, wanting to steal the research of his mother and some valuable pokemon she was studying. In the struggle his little sister died.

Devastated, Marcus ran away from home, when he met Celebi.
Description:
Tall and physically imposing, Marcus is however an albino, giving him a somewhat eerie appearance, and making him vulnerable to the sun. Soft-spoken and generally gentle, he has developed a psychoses about his little sister, having begun to believe that Celebi is his little sister. As such, he is fiercely protective of Celebi, and will attack anyone who hurts her.

It brutally descended upon her and her family taunting and ripping them limb from limb greatly enjoying it.She was able to acquire a pokeball in the side of the lake while it was toying with her.She had her arm horribly mutilated at that moment before she captured it and rose to the surface she has travelled here in search of a way to bring back the dead despite how unlikely it is.

Description:She has dark blue hairs that flows past her shoulder she also has pale gray eyes that are cloudy and unfocused from deep sadness and her entire right arm is a mangled mess covered in bandages she is 5ft8 and wears a tattered white shirt and blue sweatpants covered in faintly red stains she is extremely bitter and treats most with apathy and cynicism.

Backstory: Umbria was born into a rich family in Lumiose City with her father, little brother, and stepmother. Umbria absolutely loved Pokemon, and in return they loved her back. Wanting to be a coordinator, her father gifted her a Cottonee on her 10th birthday, which she named Verte. Life was good.

Until her father died in a one-person car crash only a few weeks afterward, of course.

Distraught and suddenly a little bit more alone, she decided not to go and embark on her Pokemon journey. This changed upon her, her little brother, and stepmother being mugged in an alleyway. Luckily, they managed to stall for time until the police came by, but... Seeing her supposed protector, her stepmother, being so defenseless... it awakened a resolve within her. She needed to become the very best, and no-one will ever hurt her or her little brother again.

A week later, she boarded a boat for Morta.

His efforts have been mostly fruitless so far, but he has recently discovered a promising lead that has led him to the Morta region...
Description: He looks a lot like Professor Oak, but with a different hairstyle and a tendency to fidget when he isn't doing anything.

Hmm... Alright, I'd be fine with that, because it's not a god or anything. But this does mean you won't have a starter Pokemon that evolves, Celebi won't show up in the game aside from the one you have now (legendaries/mythicals are unique), and that it will start at level 5 with 2 moves of my choosing. That all good?
