Lobotomy Corporation - SCP-esque Management Sim
« on: February 27, 2016, 08:13:26 pm »

Hey Guys.

Normally I only lurk on these forums but today I stumbled across a Kickstarter with a really interesting concept. The project is attempting to make a sim game based on the management of an organization similar to the popular SCP project. I've already thrown 20$ to the project since it's scratching an itch for a kind of game I've been wanting for a while so it's got my support. I should caution anyone looking to back the project though, the dev team is a bunch of college kids with little experience.

A pull from the Kickstarter Page:

Quote
You have joined a mysterious company.

Here, you and your employees will manage various creatures.

Wrong instructions given to your employees can lead them into horrible deaths.

They will murder their fellow coworkers and commit suicide by opening up the containment chambers in panic.

To prevent such things from happening, you will have to manage the monsters in a right way and expand the company's facility with energy collected from them.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

That creature is adorable, but certainly the game looks interesting.

That trailer is to Stardew Valley?

It looked like Fallout Shelter. Then everyone died horribly and it started to look interesting.

I like this... I will be watching... but I'm hesitant about jumping onto kickstarters given a recent bad experience.

PD: they'll be releasing ONLY through steam?   :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Well, let's say you're going away from Earth on huge spaceship and suddenly shit goes wrong and you have Super Mutants. Social Experiments prepared them for this.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

I can't figure out if the poor spelling and misuse of words like escapement is intentional or not.

This looks gloriously awesome...not a fan of the art style but the game mechanics look bloody glorious.

The art style and stuff seen in the trailer screams very "mobile" to me. Feels like it'd be one of those games where you build (up/down) with pre-made rooms in empty blocks.

I'm sure it won't be like that, but it sure looks like it would.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

I wouldn't actually mind that. It's a much more "do-able" format for a new dev team and it seems like most of the game complexity deals with dynamic player interaction with the Anomalies instead of layout/base management.

The project failed to meet its minimum goal on Kickstarter...
