Ok, you can wrestle the fire man. We'll see how that goes. He's still out there and you're all between him and the vent, so someone has to fight him.

We've got an axe now, so there will be beds soon.

Sorry, I'm having trouble keeping you guys straight. Eight had bolts, we made bolts from the bones of all his kills, but he only got off one shot before the fire man rushed him. The fire man actually fled from him, and was chased to the opposite side of the map. Eight got him cornered, and that's when the tragic battle happened.

With our most reliable source of food gone, this may get a little hairy, because whip vine needs to be milled and cooked. I think we have a few wild strawberry seeds, though.

As for mandates, please save them for when the immigrants arrive, there's no one else to do these things for you, and who ever heard of a noble fulfilling their own mandates? Besides, we need everyone focusing on survival now that Eight is gone. Once the immigrants arrive, however, all nobles will be given no jobs, and the fun can really begin.

EDIT:

You were digging channels to smooth out the cliff face on all three z-levels, but after you're little fight with Bullion, I decided that these would be temporary accomidations anyway, so I abandoned that project.

After the cave in, you dig the ground out from under Bullion again, so you're pretty much square. You didn't manage to make him puke, though...

We've got an axe, eh? Well, pass it to me, lad, and all of us will have fireman chops for dinner! Also, I'll gladly sign up for a wood cutting duty (just to get myself away from seeds)

That's just what you'll be doing until those immigrants arrive. I haven't had much opportunity to play today, so I'll see if I can get back to the fortress tomorrow.

This doesn't look good. The fire man is heading back to the magma tube, but Keskal is sleeping between the magma and the fire man. Everyone is asleep so there's nothing I can do.

The fire man was afraid of the dwarves, it seems, and just stood between them and the vein of magnitite needed for shields and armor. Camel Drovy (who happened to have an axe with him/her the entire time, but failed to inform anyone) was forced to fight without armor, but, with the help of four dogs, struck down the fire man. His (or her, I forget which) leg was injured badly, so both bed and bucket were made. Bullion went to recover Camel Drovy, but dropped him/her halfway to the bed when he decided he couldn't wait for a swig of wine. Imp carried him/her the rest of the way.

I was wondering that myself. Perhaps Fenrir has been having computer problems?

8th Timber
Keskal was wounded fighting a fire imp. Highlord Asehujiko Nearly became !!Highlord Asehujiko!!. Keskal decided to have a bite to eat before battle, so the imp persued him as Keskal ate, the flames licking his heels. Finally Keskal arrived, but not before Highlord Asehujiko lost an eye to a well aimed fireball.
We dissasembled the Trading Depot beneath the traders, so we now have food coming out our ears. The first booze we've had in months has been brewed.

Not a single immigrant in sight.

I'm considering abandoning this fortress. Damn, the second community fortress to fall.
