"Pilot! How long can you keep her in the sky?"
Stay back and refrain from wasting .45 ammo from this range.

"We can't take much more of this fire. I can set you down, but we'll have to call a fresh chopper to extract you. Which means you'll be on your own for an hour."
"Alright. Set us down. What do you think, Remrud? Should you and Hoffman land with the rest of us or come back with a new chopper?

"Like hell I'm leaving y'all!  We can hop on the second when it comes if you need aeriel support.  Hoffman [Zormod], join up with Ayy for now, I'll go with Lmao.  Barrantes [Nik], Muldoon [Dev], secure our immediate vicinity, then prepare to blow the service elevator right next to us."

Be the last person to disembark.  Try and take out one or both of the greys using kids as shields, if possible.  Once on the ground, find hard cover that has line of sight to the grays, but doesn't require me to run through enemy fire, and continue trying to take out the grays that have grabbed human shields.

Also, Nik pointed out an error in my char sheet--I wrote down my M14's bonus at medium as +2, but it only has +1.  Please correct that.  Question: Do SOPMOD optics conflict with the default scope, or could I get a +1 to long range by equipping the x6 ACOG?  If the latter, I'd like to retroactively equip the x6.

(( We add Nikitian's Nemesio Barrantes and stuff him into the copter retroactively ))

Hold fire as per orders. Have FMJ rounds loaded in all weapons.

You load your gun up.

"Pilot! How long can you keep her in the sky?"
Stay back and refrain from wasting .45 ammo from this range.

You stay behind the armored doors of the UH-60 blackhawk

Lamo team! Focus fire on the alien behind the water fountain let the sniper take car of the rest

start snapping shots with my m4 at the alien behind the water fountain and get to cover.

[3+2-2 =3]

You take one snap shot from a wobbly copter. It grazes the alien behind the water fountain in the right arm [fails cover save], and flies smack into the neck of the civilian behind him. [5 on over-penetration]

The civilian's neck arteries turn into a fountain of blood, baptizing everyone around him. The screaming starts. Lots and lots of screaming from a hundred civilian prisoners squatting around in front of the UFO.

"I'm taking the furthest one.  Everyone hold fire until I open up."

You curse as your trigger happy m4 user tries to blap the alien by the fountain. Then you go fuck it and take a shot at the furthest alien. [6]

Your 7.62mm NATO round travels through 5 civilians before being deflected off somewhere. (Alien passes a cover save)

The first civilian has his left arm shredded. The second's head explodes. The third is holed square in the chest. It goes through the right thigh of a fourth. Then it buries itself in the gut of the fifth victim.

William Muldoon

Holding fire until Lester shoots first.  Pick my target as the near-left beta.

"Pick targets, make the surprise count.  Lets put them all down before they have a chance to shoot back."

You fire a burst into one of the aliens holding a hostage. It hits him square in the chest and nails the six year old girl he was holding, leaving him unscathed.

But we're not done yet...

Keep my gun pointed at the fountain grey. Make sure FMJ is the loaded ammotype. Don't fire until Lester fires.

Lester fired.
You chuck fully automatic 7.62 NATO firepower from a wobbly helicopter down-range at the wounded grey by the fountain. [1]

You massacre about 30 civilians behind your target.

The wounded alien by the fountain shoots at open copter door, and misses.

A second one fires and misses as well.

A third hits Cody Hoffman in the right leg. He is bleeding.

The fourth misses.

(Those were bad alien rolls. You lucky bastards)

Aliens: Alien by water fountain wounded in the right arm.

ERRANT: Cody Hoffman is bleeding from the right leg.

Civilians:
1 blood fountain from over-penetrated m4 fire.
A m14 shot shredded someone's arm, brained a second, holed a third in the chest, wounded a fourth in the leg, and then gutted the fifth.
1 dead six year old girl, former body shield for an alien. Shredded by expanding hollow point rounds. It's going to be a closed-casket funeral.
30 massacred from machine-gun fire.

Tally: 33 dead, 2 critically wounded (chest and gut), 2 wounded with limb shots.

Optics don't stack, you'll use whichever is ideal for the situation.

Is it my fucking fault that aliens are apperntly flimsy as fuck and everything you shoot into one of them fucking over penetrates?

"Fuck!  Hold fire 'til you're on the ground, chopper's far too unsteady!"

Unlatch my M14 from the heli, then wield my shotgun.  Be one of the first to disembark (are we fastroping or landing?), and clear the immediate vicinity before taking cover.  If there's no nearby enemies, swap back to M14 once I'm in cover, and try and take out one of the grays with a human shield.

((Also, are we using the ER roll system, or the traditional RTD system?  If I took Egan's pistol, and got a 2 while shooting it, how would my shot be different from Egan taking that shot?))

It's an ER roll system. An unstressed 2+3 shot will give you a perfect 5.

Battlefield conditions are never perfect.

Frag 'em? Civvies 'd be patched up later.        ...Maybe.

JHP Magazine is loaded. Be ready to disembark third. Upon landing, hip-fire (single burst) at nearest alien while taking cover. EDIT: Map updated.

((@GM For the record: What kind of ranges are Melee and Short? It seems that the ranges are a bit longer than in ER (where "melee" range on deathtubes has generally been more or less a glorified "shove a gun up their face and pull the trigger"). Basically, is a few meters away (e.g. ~"across the room", "in the immediate vicinity") within Melee range, or is it Short range?

Also, could you generally include the distance between enemies positions in descriptions, where it isn't immediately obvious (like here)? No need for tactical maps if you don't want to, but it'd help with aiming AOEs (explosives, machinegun fire, etc.) and with planning in general (e.g. "Is it possible to 'zerk-bounce them one by one, or are they spaced too far?", "Which one is outlying from the group furthest and the best target for initial attack/in the best position to outflank us?" etc.).))

Updated Tactical Map of roof:

Hostile infantry in red diamonds and this is just what you can see. Remember they have a whole platoon here.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Medium is typically ideal assault rifle range of around 100m.

Short is things like firing down corridors, across rooms and bush-fighting ranges of ~20 to 50 metres

melee range can extend to targets in the same small room as you.

shooting across 2 rooms might be short range. Going toe-to-toe in extremely tight room-fighting confines would be melee.

For scale: each of those shop units are around 10-12 meters long.
