The first rays of dawn are breaking through the sky, turning the azure into a fiery golden.
This is dawn, a new day begins.
Turn 49 : Everyone
ZoomochScoomtarto the Three-Eyed BeholderWhelp, I'd best See How it tastes! Or in simpler terms: Go for the Throat!!
[1] Blinded by your insatiable hunger, you lunge toward the green creature whose back is still turned. But the sudden change in air pressure is felt by the sensible hairs of the monster. The creature exhibit an sudden burst in speed, and jumps behind you, dodging your attack.
It stands on its back legs to intimidate you, blocking the way out. Its fur is so thick that the body under it can't be distinguished, you see no eyes, no specific features. Only a large gaping mouth opening, revealing three rows of sharp teeth.
There is no exit, you are now in the chamber with the monster blocking the way out.
Caedan the Nosferatu"Taking the risk to get that essence was completely worth it. NO LONGER WILL I BE LOST IN A FOREST! Truly, a joyous occasion."
Let's fly up and take a look around the area. If there's something nearby that looks interesting (like a bone demon and a hot demoness invading a village, for example), check it out. Otherwise look for prey.
((Also, looks like you didn't notice that I changed Caedan's appearance. It's a small change here and there, so I'm not overly surprised that you missed it.))
[6] You rise up into the skies, enjoying your new powers to the fullest. You can't help but let out a maniacal laugh, like some villain at the windows of an obscure manor.
You begin to look around the area, flying high into the cloudless sky. The fresh morning wind on your skin is refreshing, and the mild moistness of the night is making you feel great. As you are flying your eyes closed to better appreciate these new sensations, you hear shouting down there, disturbing your reveries.
It's a whole battalion of marching soldiers, heading toward the forest. Looking further ahead, you notice three more battalion behind this one. They have not yet spotted you, but it shouldn't take much seconds before they do.
Snehk the Stalker Follow these tracks and find that monster.
[6] The three of you decide to track down the creature behind those tracks. Barak and Bargar don't know what species this monster is, they never saw such footprints. Thrice larger than Bargar footprints, the creature seems to have three toes and probably claws. It is also quadrupedal.
You follow them for a moment, easily circulating through the mildly dense woods. Slowly, you feel the dawn approaching, you searched for a moment.
Then you begin to smell a strong odor, you are not far anymore. Barak and Bargar nod silently to you : no more noise, the prey is close.
As you approach carefully, a coincidental ray of light shines down upon the lone creature standing atop a large rock in the middle of the forest. It's a quadrupedal hairless creature, with a rough skin with an appearance closer to rock than flesh. There are many vent-like holes on its back, and some kind of solid lump of black matter resembling obsidian. Its tail is large and wide at the tip, kind of like a mace.
"This guy...seems really strong." mutters Bargar.
Durst the Rock SeerAdvance more cautiously, taking care to attune myself to the sounds of mana. If I see any danger, go prone and appear to be a rock.
((I know the mana isn't gone totally. However, my character harbors the belief that instead of it willingly being silent, someone or something is causing it to be mute. Thus, there is little difference between it being silent, and missing.))
[3] There shouldn't be any dangerous creature living in the crater of Coridem, but you are never careful enough. Advancing with utmost caution, you progress toward the barrier. The whispers are getting stronger, but you still can't fully understand them.
You eventually reach the barrier. Placing your head on the reddish rock, you focus on listening. The whispers are coming from behind the barrier. You can feel them.
Dahak the Uncanny Unreasonably Spooky Scary Skeleton((:v oh))
Dahak is a bit disappointed. Looking at Nihil now, he doesn't seem to have the inherent aura of pure awesome that would come from absorbing something like a world guardian. Still, he was sturdy enough to go up against Delinde and even fight back.
Too bad he seems to have the personality of an agnsty teenager elf.
AWWW LOOK AT THE CHILDREN TRYING TO BE ALL SERIOUS LIKE, YOU TINY WIDDLE ABOMINATION YOU
Dahak paternaly pats Nihil's head with his large bony hands. Like a dad, a skeledad. The best skeledad.
As much as I'd like to hear your monologues on loneliness and despair, I got stuff to do.
Dahak gather the remaining materials from the ritual and puts them into the backpack, along with a few bones for the trip.
Morvad confirmed my suspicions. I got corrupted by the other world as well, and things are worse then I thought. There's an slow but ongoing invasion going on and I'm serving as a sort of smokescreen for it, like makeup on an ugly woman or something. I eed to get rid of this corruption, and the only way is getting enough essence.
Dahak stands up, dusts his cloak, adjusts his sunglasses and stretches his bony limbs. Dahak finds odd that stretching still feels confortable, given he has no muscles or tendons to stretch. This and many other skeleton facts will forever haunt his beautifuly shaped skull.
He then turns to Delinde, who has put her mask back on. He pokes her mask with a bony finger.
You really oughta tell me whats with the mask one of these days. You don't seem like the sort to have that much social anxiety.
Dahak ponders on the mystery of the mask. Maybe Delinde is hiding something? Maybe she wears a mask because she's a criminal! Maybe she goes around the cemetary touching poor undead butts! She may be a terrible undead butt molester for all you know!
Dahak is thankful he doesn't have a butt anymore.
...Anyway, just before we set out again, here's a note of advice, DON'T STARTLE ME AGAIN! I'm a walking extra-dimensional time bomb in my current condition. If I mess up I can end up tearing a new asshole in reality and bringing about another cthulhu impersonator, so watch you fog jerk summoning, please.
Set out in whatever direction seems appropriate (and hopefuly devoid of human hunters). Keep an eyesocket on Nihil, just in case.
Delinde seems all better now, as she quickly reacts when you speak of her mask and hypothetical issues.
"The mask ? To be fair, I just wear it out of fashion and tradition. Death fairies usually wear a mask you see. And no, before you ask it I don't know who or what established this "Death Fairy uniform". But it doesn't mean the mask isn't actually useless. You see, Death Fairies see the world differently from the average monster : we see glimpse of the Spirit World, and other strange phenomenons. The mask inhibits this special vision."
And when you begin yelling at her, she takes it as a personal offense.
"Well sorry, it's not like I nearly died many times before because some people I knew got corrupted and actually couldn't be believed anymore ! I would like to see you reacting if I suddenly showed up with an eldritch aura shouting "DANGEROUS"."
"But I'm still to blame, so sorry, I guess. I will try to be more careful next time, and I hope there won't be a next. Sigh. I propose keeping Nihil in the sarcophagus, I will carry it."
[2] You both leave the graveyard, with you planning to absorb more essence, Delinde keeping an eye on you and Nihil, and the last one actually having nothing better to do.
A good direction where to head ? You don't really know, so you decide to follow your instinct.
So you head toward the South. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea.
Past the trees enclosing the graveyard, there is a wide open space, giving you a better idea of the surroundings. A forest to the East, what seems to be a plain to the South, and more plain and patch of small forests to the West.
Gray the Metaldee and Glint the Elemental Arcanivore"Hi. I'm Gray, this is Brown. We're going North. You're welcome to come with us."
Let the others rest if they need to, then continue along the shortcut to the North.
"Hi. I'm Gray, this is Brown. We're going North. You're welcome to come with us."
Let the others rest if they need to, then continue along the shortcut to the North.
"I'm Glint. The monster on my back is Tirim, and the one next to me is Vagush. We would be happy to travel with you."
If Vagush thinks he could use some more rest, stick around for a little while and let him do so. Either way, follow Gray and Brown North.
[5] Vagush flexes his arms in a macho way, and says : "I'm all better now, walking a bit helped me recuperate."
He indeed seems healed, he must have some incredible regenerative body.
So you both continue northward, this time closely following the shortcut. The first rays of the sun accompany your depart, painting a beautiful scenery : on the left the sand is still silvery, while on the right the sand is taking a golden hue.
Your trek is free of danger, this shortcut is indeed really safe. Then Vagush stops everyone and says :
"The sand here is changing. We are on the human territory now."
((The 5 will affect next turn))
The Ashen the Charred Wraith Last ditch effort possession GO!
[4] Taking advantage of the situation, you wrap hastily around the creature's limb, and the white porcelain arm crackles with black fissures. You are moving further along its body, slowly trying to cover it whole.
You lose 3MP
Masked creature : [5]
The creature notices his arm is not his own anymore, and reacts accordingly to it. A blinding flash of light illuminates the place for a brief moment, and its whole body dissociates.
The main body is floating independently, and the maskless arms are joining the arms holding a mask. Every masks separated from the main body turns toward you, like if they were looking at you.
You have full control of the arm.
Ulkas the Lesser OsyluthStop illusions. Try backstabbing with my corrosive tail!
((I'm starting to feel inadequate fighting alongside Astrosa against God Chosen...))
[5] This enough you think, if illusions don't work, stabbing it will probably. If even this doesn't, then this opponent may represent a bigger threat than expected.
You break off your own illusions with ease, after all, they were yours to begin with. Jumping into the fray, you throw your barbed tail toward the back of the Chosen. Taking advantage of the Chosen vulnerability, you strike in an opening !
Your tail lodges firmly in the woman's back, piercing through the armor ! The poison begins to kick in, and the pain breaks the focus of the Chosen who is still augmenting herself.
Astrosa roll : [6]
"Good job Ulkas !" shouts Astrosa.
She follows your lead and thrusts again the large blade toward the human's torso. The blade pierces the armor, but stop suddenly before going further into the flesh. The new armor is blocking the blade.
Chosen roll : [4]
Despite the pain of her flesh melting in her back, the woman regains her focus and finishes her augmentation. A new set of purple armor of unknown material is covering her, encircling your tail and Astrosa's blade.
