Name: Astrosa (Does it have a hidden meaning? I have only found a moth genus and an old Portuguese word meaning "unfortunate, vile, infamous")
Species: Unknown (Pretty sure it would be Crazy Crimson Demoness)
Appearance: A humanoid demon taller than most humans with a feminine figure and crimson skin with black markings. She has ruby eyes and beautiful ebon hair. A blood red substance is constantly flying around her, part of it wrapping her like some sort of exquisite cloth. (Strangely, this comes into mind)

He then proceeds to read up the passages in the diary. Most are too painfuly emotionaly charged to be read wihout clanking a few bones in reverence.

Hmmm, apparently the old man's genius didn't fade when I wasn't around, either. If anything he became more obstinate. Seems I've become the anchorpoint of the plane of pure suck or something. This explains why the village has become a twilight zone full of tormented souls and extra dimensional dweeb corruptors, AND MAYBE MY INHERENT ABILITY TO ATTRACT SHITTY SITUATIONS, and also why I can apparently scare even things that technicaly shouldn't be able to feel fear.

He apparently died before he found out anything conclusive on how to undo the whole situation. Obviously it has to do with unlinking my soul from whatever is connecting me to the mind rape dimension, and it clearly had something to do with essence. WELP, I guess this gives us a lead, we need to more essence >:v!

Before going on an all out essence hungry rampage though, you mentioned a basement. Can't leave without checking the basement, like my mother used to say!

Find a way into the basement and search it, surely there might be something useful there.

Traits gained : Morphous- Replaces Amorphous, Gray can now take on and hold forms, even though his body retains its liquid-like appearance and consistency.
Skills gained : Engulf- Engulfs all or a portion of the target, restricting it's movements and quickly digesting it

Gray feels satisfied at having found the food he craved, but that satisfaction was soon replaced by surprise as his body started to shift. When it stopped, he waved one of his new appendages in front of his face. He had arms now! And feet! And a face! What a strange and fortunate event.

"That's it! That's what I was craving! But what was it, Guardian? And where can I find more?"

Those you don't really know will have the "known traits/skills" instead. You can try to ask them what their traits and skills are, they will answer or not depending on a test roll. They shouldn't try to rip your head off if you roll a 1, so don't worry.

Today is the grand day. After so many time and preparation, and thanks to Delinde and the combined genius of Dahak and I, I have completed the magical ritual to create a gateway communicating with the world of the dead, or "spirit world" according to Delinde.

This ritual will allow us to connect with the other world and communicate with the dead. Furthermore, there are so many secrets and magic mysteries that will follow this incredible feat ! But we are no fools, this task may be dangerous. As such, with the close guiding of the death fairy Delinde, we have prepared the necessary counter-measures in case the connection goes awry.

Only one thing is worrying me : the catalyst will be Dahak, my assistant, colleague and friend. The only way to connect to the spirit world is by using an intermediate soul, which will be Dahak.

Thanks again Dahak, for your support and incredible mind.
And thanks to you too Delinde, for your help and for showing me that not all monsters were the mindless beasts I thought they were.

The ritual...failed. It went far worse than...than anything I could have imagined. Because of me, Dahak died, and Delinde said his soul was connected to the thing we opened. This thing, I don't know what it was. I would have never imagined it existed.

If you ever read those lines Dahak, know that I'm so sorry. Sorry...sorry for everything. I will find a way to save your soul. I will give my life for it. To correct this mistake. To forget my grief.

I went to the village. Everyone suffered a fate worse than death. The gate unleashed an unknown force that spawned what I call "Corruptors". Beings born from this force and bent on twisting and tormenting the souls of the living. No one can ever return there, I noted that Corruptors spawn endlessly in there. Fortunately, they can't seem to leave, maybe because the surroundings aren't connected to their "world".

This village and all its inhabitants suffered this fate because of my foolishness. I pray that one day, you will find rest and pardon me.

I began studying those Corruptors from the black "heart" of one of those "dead" things. First of all, they are not alive according to Delinde. They are not undead either.
I concluded from the black heart observations that they are akin to a "natural" phenomenon caused by the unknown and eldritch force that plague the village. Why they are so hostile to the living, I do not know.

This black "heart" is made of a substance unknown to me. I can't feel any magic from it. But I can feel it trying to touch my mind, this is terrifying.

My research progressed a lot. I now have a better grasp of what is the world we connected to. And I learnt one terrible truth :

Our ritual was doomed to fail.

I studied the essence Delinde spoke about. A strange force present in monsters and humans with incredible properties. Invisible to humans and nearly undetectable by magical means. Except for monsters, they seem to be able to naturally feel and see it.

The ritual included a catalyst, whose soul would connect with the spirit world. Why the soul ? Because souls are drawn to the spirit world.
But I didn't take into account the essence. Corruptors are drawn to essence, so this "world" was drawn to Dahak's essence.
During the ritual, the corruptor world connected to his essence instead of his soul connecting with the spirit world, thus creating a passageway to this twisted dimension.

Only now did I realize that Delinde probably saved this kingdom from an unforeseen catastrophe by killing Dahak.

But I still don't have enough informations about it. I don't know how to save Dahak's soul.

Because his soul is both an anchor linking us to the corruptor world and a lock preventing it from reaching our world.
If his soul gets destroyed or returns to the spirit world, I don't know if both properties will disappear or one will remain.

I have never felt so much despair in my whole life.
