In this RTD, you are a monster and begin at the weakest stage of the monster hierarchy.
But this will not last long ! By fighting and overcoming hardships, monsters grow stronger, until the point where they transform and take a new and stronger form !
Watch out for hostile monsters and evil intelligent people !
PLOT AND LOCATIONS :
A simple semi-minimalist RTD, where you play as a customized creature instead of some filthy human.
Just have fun and follow your flow, if you want to try to uncover some lore or plot, do so ! If you want to just murder your way to power, do so ! If you want to explore the world and force me to make up locations on the spot, do so !
Take it easy and enjoy the ride.
Our story begins in a world of swords and magic, with dangerous creatures roaming in nature. Yet despite the constant threat of monsters upon human settlements, humanity is prosperous and organized in countries of various grandeur. Monsters are now no longer a threat like in olden times, the future seems bright as a whole for all humanity.
That was until very recently. For some unknown reason, sighting of powerful and evolving monsters all around the world increased to alarming levels. Villages destroyed, adventurers and hunters increasing dead count, frontiers becoming dangerous...
The ever growing threats of these monsters called by some "Evolving Monsters", "Awakened Monsters" and many other names is but the genesis of greater changes in the order of the world.
The world is changing. Monsters are changing, becoming stronger, smarter and deadlier.
And you are a Monster.

RULES AND "MECHANICS" :

[1] Critical Failure : it failed, and went wrong
[2] Failure : it just failed
[3] Partial Success : it succeeded a little bit
[4] Success : it succeeded just within expectation
[5] Critical Success : it succeeded in the most positive way !
[6] Overshot : it succeeded, yielding unpredictable results !

Your level is symbolized by your "Stage".
Each time you transform, your Stage and Attributes increase and you gain/lose one or more traits.
By killing, eating and many other means, you accumulate energy in your body (basically EXP).
Feel free to create your own stage 0 creature, or even variations of these. As long as it follows the idea "basic", it should be okay.
They must just have 1 trait minimum + 1 trait/skill.

Appearance: some basic physical appearance or more.
Are you a green slime ? A simple skeleton ? A weird eyeless quadrupedal beast ?
Attributes: increase two stats by 1 and decrease two other stats by 1 (apart from HP or MP)

CON 0 -Constitution : increase physical resilience-
POW 0 -Power : increase special/magical damage-
RES 0 -Resistance : increase special/magical resilience-
INT 0 -Intelligence : increase your ability to submit others to your will-

note : attributes are just some kind of "indicative" property, their are no specific formulas or calculation behind them. (yet?)
Traits : your species trait.
Skills : your innate skill.
When you reach the Stage 1, you unlock the "Essence Bar". It basically says how much Essence you need before being able to transform to the next Stage. You gain essence by killing principally, but their are other means.
When you transform, you can choose to modify your body, gain a point in an attribute and gain a trait and a skill. Try to keep some coherence between new traits/skills and body modification.
The GM will roll a D4 and depending on the result, you will or will not transform as expected.
You also gain a new species name in the process.

3-4 : +8/+4; +2 Attributes; 2 trait/skill, can "reroll" 1 trait/skill
5-6 : +12/+7; +2 Attributes; 3 trait/skill, can "reroll" 1 trait/skill

HP or MP increase : choose one. It will be increased by 5, the other by 2
