So I am very excited for the new release, and I want to play my current fort with the updates. I have two question:

1. Is 0.42.06 completely compatible with saves from the previous version, or are there bugs associated with moving saves?

2.  How do I move my save? Is it as simple as moving the world over into a file called "save" under "data" in the new version, or do I need to move the world plus an actual save folder? Also, will this keep my init and graphics settings?

Any help is appreciated!

It should be compatible, although you won't have the new adventure mode bone carving reactions (since your old save's files doesn't include them).

You can just move your "data/save" folder over to the new version.  If you already made a save folder in the new version, you can go inside your old save folder and move over any "region" folder you want individually.

The init settings are in "data/init" and you'll have to handle that separately from the saves.  This time, moving over your init.txt and d_init.txt should be fine, but that's not always true.  You can check the new version's file_changes.txt to see if there have been relevant changes.

Wow, a reply from the man himself! Thanks Toady, I did like you said, and it works just fine. It's also good to know about the file_changes.txt folder, I was never aware of that before.

I'm looking forward to updating my burial chambers with custom-made gold statues!
