Into the fire
« on: February 08, 2016, 03:52:26 pm »

BOOM!
As the helicopter flies away from your home, you see a great fireball erupt from the roof, throwing flaming debris high into the air. Seconds later, you hear the deep bass drum beat of explosives detonating inside of what remains of your childhood home. The bright light from the blazing inferno burns the image into your retinas. You look back into the cabin of the chopper. Sitting across from you is a scientist and two armed soldiers, both are caked in blood and plaster. You look down at your own hands and see fresh blood. It is seeping out of a wound on your upper arm.

The scientist turns to you and says,"We are terribly sorry you had to witness that bit of -unpleasantness- but, it was necessary to keep you alive.". She has a sweet and nonthreatening tone to her voice. "What is your na-" The craft is rocked by explosion after deafening explosion. The soldiers move into their positions on the guns on the side of the chopper. Through the open doors you can see black smoke exploding in little bursts around the aircraft. The guns roar and spit fire and hot metal shell casings roll on the floor. You begin to panic, slight bits of energy pulse around you and you start to glow red. The air in the chopper swiftly rises in temperature. The scientist takes notice and yells over the gunfire to be heard. You don't hear exactly what is being said, the thunder of the guns deafens you, as well as a deafening beat of drums in your head. Then, just as suddenly as the noise started, it disappears. As the panic wanes, so too does the glow, though you can still feel the energy. "Did you get it? Is it gone? One of the soldiers triumphantly nods. "Where was I? Oh yeah. Your name. What is your name?"

Describe self.

I am terribly sorry. But, there aren't any nuclear launch codes at the moment.

"Jesse." It was all you could manage. Any more and you might have gone off the edge into uncontrollable sobbing.

My name is Susan Usrey. I am so sorry this had to happen. It couldn't have waited though. If we had been any later, you would have been captured and most likely killed. Once we arrive at the base, I'll tell you why this happened. Until then, try to get some sleep, it's a very long ride from here to there.

After a while, you realize that sleep is probably not going to come easy. You sit and watch the country unfold underneath the helicopter. The soldiers start discussing the recent events and sounding overall pleased with their performance. Dr. Usrey fiddles around on a small laptop. Most of the shells have since rolled out of the cabin and disappeared into oblivion. The gentle swaying of the chopper and the steady thrum of the engine slowly put you to sleep. After an indeterminable amount of time, you feel arms carrying you. Then, nothing.

You wake up in a clean white room with fluorescent lights on either side of you. You may in a sort of hospital gurney. Ms. Usrey stands nearby. She's facing a screen with some videos playing. They all looked kind of fake. Some kid shooting fire from his hands, another with lightning arcing from arm to arm as he shoots it at a barrel and... BOOM... The ground shakes underneath you. She sighs and looks back at you. Surprise registers on her face as she notices you are awake.
"Oh. You're awake!"

KID THUNDA!

((I swear to god. Every time I see this phrase, I just lose it.))

We are at an Army base in New Mexico. Well, technically under it. This room is my office and where you have been staying for the past twelve or so hours. She offers you an apple and some water. She sees bewilderment in your eyes. She sets the apple and glass of water by your bed. "Don't worry about the whole ground shaking and whatnot. It's most likely nothing. Her phone beeps. Well. That's my cue. I'll be back to show you around in a few minutes. Ciao." She exits the room through a plain door with no visible security locking it. The computer is on screensaver. As to be expected there are no windows.
