Dragoneers (OOC/Sign-Ups)
« on: February 06, 2016, 04:08:54 pm »

Welcome to the Nation of Alterra, a land that lives in the shadow of dragons. For centuries humanity lived in constant fear of the reptilian beasts. Villages were burned down. Livestock snatched from their pastures. Many a warrior slain and devoured by the winged beasts. Then great heroes and hunters rose up and drove the great dragons from the civilized mainland of Alterra, deep into the dark wilderness and the mystical out-lands. In the century since then Alterra has enjoyed peace and prosperity like it never could have imagined. Some of the lesser dragon species have even been partially domesticated by Dragoneers, dragon taming and breeding experts. This is their story, a story of dragons, adventure, and money.

In this game players play as a dragoneer, one of the most dangerous and lucrative professions of Alterra. Taming, breeding, and raising some of the most dangerous creatures in the world has its perks though, prestige and income among them. Yet many people take on this profession simply for the joy of discovering and taming strange and mysterious dragons from far off lands. Others get into the job because of their love of the Dragon Colosseum, an arena where dragons are pitted against each other in various fights and competitions. No matter your interests, dragon raising has something to offer you.

You have taken out a loan of 3000 coin to get your business of the ground. This money is yours to spend as you see fit and will propel you into the Dragoneer Hall of Fame. Someday at least.

Known Dragons List:

Plowtail: This normal type dragon is one of the remaining indigenous Nova Crotia dragons. It is a bulky dragon about the size of a small car. Its most noticeable feature is the plowlike hook on the end of its tail. Its scales are a dull brown color. It is terrestrial dragon, sporting four limbs with no wings. Each foot has three splayed digits. It is a blunt class dragon and lacks any meaningful breath based ability. It has been used as a beast of burden for centuries and is quite strong as a result. However it is quite slow.

Rocktooth: This earth type dragon is one of the remaining indigenous Nova Crotia dragons. It is a bulky dragon the size of a horse. It, uncreatively, got its name because it eats rocks. It's scales vary in coloration depending on the type of rocks it consumes over its lifetime. It is a terrestrial dragon. It is classified as an earth blast class. It is capable of regurgitating molten rocks.

Sicklewing: This normal type dragon is one of the remaining indigenous Nova Crotia dragons. It is a lean dragon the size of a man. Its wings have a sharp edge to them which, at high speeds, is capable of cutting through small objects. This dragon has been used extensively for farming for over a century. Its scales are typically  green or yellow in coloration, but speckled and orange variants have been documented. It is a member of the blade class and has no breath based ability.

Crotian Log Snapper: This plant dragon is one of the few indigenous Nova Crotia Dragons. It is a flattish dragon with a long bumpy tail. It is the size of a man. Its scales are a dark green at the head, which turn to brown at the neck. This dragon is a member of the sneak class and spends its time with its head hidden in the foliage trees and its thin flat body clinging to the tree trunk. Its tail rests along the ground and resembles a large tree root. It is mostly herbivorous and quietly eats tree bark and leaves. It is a breath class dragon and is capable of breathing splinters and wood chunks at high speeds.

Pond Slink: This lake type dragon is one of the few indigenous Nova Crotia Dragons. It is three fourths the size of a man and is a member of the ambush class. This greenish brown dragon resembles a scaled catfish and lays in wait embedded in muddy river banks and ponds. Many a pet and small animal have disappeared instantly into this creature's wide mouth. They have a tendency to bite off more than they can chew, and occasionally bite people, yet a swift punch will free your arm or leg from the beasts mouth with only minor injuries. It is capable of spitting large balls of mud great distance. This is more annoying than dangerous.

Wellworm: Of all the Nova Crotia dragons, this the only one which is not a true dragon, but is infact a wyrm. This stubby earth dragon has blue scales and a spike on the end of its body instead of a tail. lives in burrows twenty or more feet deep. They are nocturnal and have very sensitive eyes. As such, they hate direct sunlight. Nova Crotians have used this aversion to sunlight to their advantage and placed Wellworms where they wish to dig a well. The unhappy wyrm will immediate begin digging vertical burrow that its captors may latter use as a well. The Wellworm will normally return to its original burrow within a week or so, once it knows it is safe to leave its emergency hole. It is a spike class dragon and has an unusual breath attack. It will face downwards in its hole and, if disturbed by an intruder, will fire its forceful breath attack against the bottom of its hole. This shoots the Wellworm upwards with great force and impales its unwelcome visitor.

Smoke Snick: This fire type dragon is one of the few remaining Nova Crotia dragons. It is lanky with purplish scale sand is the size of a small car . It has no wings, but is a natural climber. This breath class dragon is capable of releasing large amounts of smoke. This dragon's smoke has a meat curative and the people of Nova Crotia have used this dragon's smoke to cure fish and meat.

Binglewap: This plant type dragon is one of the few remaining Nova Crotia dragons. It is a light green color and three fourths the size of a man. It is a very slim dragon with large wings. It can be seen basking on the plains of Nova Crotia. It is a member of the speed class and is incredibly skittish. Wild Binglewaps will run at the first sign of humans or other dragons. It grazes on wild grasses and plants. Its breath attack, which is rarely employed, shoots out a stream of sticky saplike substance.

Snaggletooth: This fire type dragon is one of the few indigenous Nova Crotia dragons. This dragon's scales are a dark red on the front of the body, but change to grey on the back. The dragon's front legs are much larger and bulkier than its back legs. It is a fiercely loyal dragon, but very slow to trust and accept a dragoneer. This has given it a reputation for having a short temper. It is the only lair building dragon of all the Nova Crotia dragons, and is quite territorial. It was almost hunted to extinction, but a few early dragoneers utilized these dragons in forges and blacksmitheries. This dragon is a member of the blast family and shoots a fireball from its mouth.

Jitlequip: This normal type dragon is the largest of all the Nova Crotia dragons. It is also the least dangerous. This brown scaled bulky dragon is a member of the armor class and is covered in large bony plates. It is a solitary herbivore and spends most of its time grazing and is incredibly slow to reproduce. It is theorized by dragoneer historians that the Jitlequip would have been hunted to extinction by large predatory dragons, but humans interfered.
