Father suddenly collapses, and knows that his time will soon be up.

"Suffering! Come here."

Father holds up one of his hands so that it is within one of Suffering's hands.

"Thank you so much for your service to me. I hereby declare you my successor, and nullify your oath and any previous commands that I have given you."

Nullify Suffering's oath (if I can't do that, change it to "Exist."), then change the oaths of all of my other shades to be "Do what Suffering (the shade) tells you to do (to the intent of Suffering's (the shade) commands, if they conflict with their literal wording)."

"And, as one final gift..."

Father hands Suffering the details of the spell that he was creating, so that Suffering (or an ally of his) may complete it.

Create Shade, Greater:
You must sacrifice at least one unit of bones per casting of this spell. This spell functions as Create Shade, but the power level of the shade is equal to the square root of the number of units of bones sacrificed to cast this spell (no, smart aleck, you can't say that those bones that you used to build that item that has kept you alive so far were technically sacrificed to cast this spell), and you may choose the created shade's ghost tricks as you would if you were creating a character of the shade's power level.

"Goodbye, and good luck."

Father telepathically transmits all of his knowledge to Suffering, and then dies.

"I'm honored, Master"

((I need GM's imput to know how much of this is canon))

By the way, it seems that we can't currently do anything to these characters. Also, my character can perpetually shadow-hop away from the boss. So, can we declare this a stalemate or something?

Jones Turn

Jones dons the deflecting prism, shrinking to small size, before walking into the Mausoleum...

Crew Turn

Sure, it can all be canon.

If you guys want to arrange a truce or deal or anything, go ahead. Talking is a free action.

Sure, it can all be canon.

I mean, does Suffering gain control over the other shades? Is it able to summon more?

Turn action:
Suffering Shadow-hops to Jones and talks to him.

After all the talking, Suffering will shadow-hop to the library.

A pair of glowing red eyes suddenly materialize in Jones's shadow, its skeletal appearance becoming thicker, until the gaps from the ribs and other parts are closed and the shadow itself detaches from the floor. It immediately adopts an elongated figure, and produces a pair of limbs- arms maybe- and puts them up, in a surrendering fashion.

"It seems that you have won. Is your vengeance complete? Will you leave this ship alone? I have no interest in all the plundering you might make, for I do not care about physical objects. Your reign is free here now. I see no point in just not taking your leave."

You'll need to complete the research and have another lich or dracolich onboard to use greater shade summoning. Suffering gains control of the other shades.

Suffering's eyes become little more than red slits.

"You have already destroyed all those who could do that."

Suffering extends one hand towards Jones' ribs. It bends and accomodates to the cavities, without touching nor moving the skeletal warrior.

"See?"

Suffering's form becomes less elongated, more human-like. It stares at Jones.

"I was not present when that asshole threw you to the endless expanse of the void. Fortunately that fellow didn't last much. It must have been... troubling, to spend so much time in the endless dark... for a previously living being like you. But you even became more powerful. And your vengeance... is complete now. Right?"

Satisfied, Suffering speaks to the other shades:

"You are the same as me. You live from the shadow just as I do. I won't be defeated as long as there is shadow inside of this vessel. You are aware of that. You are aware that the only way to destroy me is to expose the whole ship to full sunlight. You know what it implies for you. I will only die if you do. The ship's possessions are yours. Carry what you want, I won't interfere. Yet I doubt that you will find something that could be of use to one of us."

After the fight, you are left with:

8 bone, Iron Gavel [2 physical] x2, Sanity Marble x2, The Bone of Justice - [5 physical/magical], The Bone of Reckoning  - [5 physical/magical] (all added to hoard)

Sanity Marble: Glass. Once per phase when you would roll on the table of madness, you may choose not to. Only one person per phase can gain a benefit from this. (Must be worn for benefit).

Remember, every non-ethereal person can equip a number of trinkets = [size].

Spoiler: Ship Inventory (click to show/hide)

Everyone alive at the end of the fight gains a level!

Travel Phase

The next encounter will happen in 5 centuries time. Try not to go mad!

To help the GM, I'm writing this out.

By the way, I'm picking Monstruous visions as my next Spooky trick.

we (Since I Gain 5 or so Bodys) Grab the Tiny Wheelbarrow And ALL of the Sanity Marbles. We Learn "Trap-Resetting" and Work on the Bone Grove(2Gn+TW), Building a pair of Pit traps next to the Library(2Gn) and Temple(2Gn), and Net trapping the Pit rooms. We Engrave The Rooms when we run out of other things to do.

Oh, and Suffering will be on Vent 1 when the encounter begins.

By the way, can someone grab the trinket that makes one smaller and put it inside the Vent 1. Just in case.
