"Ho... boy. This is going to hurt."

D. realizes that he's dead. He has 4 health... a combination of ghostly chill and unoxygenation means one damage per round... he's dead. But...

Actually, there was still a one in ten chance of his survival... if he prayed at the temple. Sure, that could mess everybody else up, but did that matter?

D. prays at the Temple, then teleports to Nik'Nak. If an oxygenation plant grows there, he punches it.

D.'s Round 1
(Processing this now in case it effects anything)
D. teleports to the temple and prays to whatever Gods are listening. [2] The Forces of Dread are listening and endow you with part of their strength.

Dread: D.'s attacks gain the mental and necrotic damage type until the end of the next encounter.

Also, keep in mind that your phylacteries and bound items will likely take damage as well.

All of me start dragging all bound items and / or phylacteries on board to Nik'Nak.

That's a good thought, but as mechanically items and phylacteries haven't been given health, they're considered 1 health items, and the sun encounter would instakill liches if I let it damage items. So the sun just hurts traps, devices and people. Your phylacteries and bound items can be stolen by heroes though.

This reminds me, the Dracolich can pick a second item to be their second phylactery. This can be a weapon or trinket, or just some random object you think would be aboard the ship.

Also, unless anyone else is praying, I'm going to assume Jones shakes off the pain along with Nik'nak cooling the room (until they're burned by the sun). Unless I hear otherwise, I'll conclude the encounter in a few hours time.

Actually, I'll stay in the Mausoleum with Nik'Nak to benefit from damage reduction.
(As for secondary phylactery, may the temple be one? or a shrine in there be one?)

You can have a statuette in the temple be one of your phylacteries (it has to be a carryable thing).

Unfortunately, I don't think the damage reduction is going to help. You've got 6 health. Over five rounds:
1. 1 dam = 5 health
2. 1 dam = 4 health
3. 1 dam = 3 health
4. 1 dam = 2 health, and Nik'nak is dissipated by the heat.
5. 2 dam = 0 health

Unless I'm missing something, you're going to crumble. It's not the end of the world, as you'll be back in 8 centuries time anyway. If you're lucky you'll recover before the next encounter.

(I think that means everyone's dying except the gnomes. Good luck on the next encounter!)

(Nah, the shades are coming back at the end of the encounter as there's still at least one shaded place on the ship and the skeleton is going to survive.)

See, the problem with making everyone really easy to revive is that unless everybody dies, nobody does. I think the only way waitlisters are going to get in is if the Evil Gnomes die, or there is a TPK.

I can see why you'd think that, given the crew have yet to face a hero party, but a lot of the hero parties have the explicit goal of destroying the crew or ship.

Also, when we get past the year 1000, teleportation technology will have improved (i.e. I'll have gotten more used to handling a large party by that point) and I'll allow as many new characters as the ship's population cap.

Shouldn't we need to build a teleporter first if that's so?
