Janet looks sheerly ecstatic at the whiskey, and takes a swig before talking. "Oh man, that's the stuff. But yeah, I do have a.... lot of questions. Where is.... here? And what are these.... Nightmares? How do they even exist? Is there a way back?"
"Akasha they call it. Weird name I know, it's, I'm not really sure where it is either. From what I can tell, everything is made from memories. This city, this world and all the Nightmares inside of it. The Nightmares exist, uh, I guess they exist the same way this world's made from memories. Not really sure how. Basically, if it's not a human and is moving around, it's probably a Nightmare."
She shrugs.
"And this is where it gets bad. Well, Nightmares grow from memories, and since everything here is made out of it, yeah."
She grimaces.
"And Nightmares are usually made out of 'purer' memories, which they also prefer. So it's a dog eat dog world here. It's just that they're usually too afraid of each other to do anything too bold, otherwise it'd just be anarchy on the streets. And yes, I think there's a way out. The Nightmares, they mentioned that some people do escape. But they don't know much, or aren't willing to say it."
She pauses again before smiling sadly.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, I know you can, but I don't know how. Just that it's possible. I... Truth be told, I gave up escaping a long time ago."

David walks up to the large hashtag.

"Hello. Is there perhaps a way in?"
The hashtag does not respond. Rude.

Considering how F***ing unnatural that thing is, I guess I might as well try to Run through the wall... Not like it could dig me a deeper hell hole then the one I'm already in... (1_Impulse)
You proceed to turn into someone else entirely and run straight through a solid wall as if you had noclip on. You are now, somewhere in the markets. The floor still consists of giant razor-edged gears. I'll briefly describe the nearby stalls since I'm not entirely sure if you're in the mood for shopping after that little incident. If you are, you can always ask me for more details. The stalls are:

The Kidnapper Bell, which is literally a church bell wherein perfume and cologne are sold (the name probably comes from its range of chloroform-based products). The Cake is a Lie, a memorial cloaked in near-impenetrable shadows out of which various baked goods glint. Lost Keys, a more conventional store that sells cages, all of which look like Nicholas Cage's head. And finally, T on the Wharf a teashop located in a twisted region of reality in which everything is functionally identical, but look like Mister T.

((When this is all over and done, and everyone's back in the real world, we're just going to find that Fucked Up Loser is actually a billionaire philanthropist or something :P))

((I WILL MAKE YOU MY FOLLOWER, NO MATTERHOW MANY DIALOGUE OPTIONS OR FETCH QUESTS IT TAKES!))

"So, you're just gonna give up? Just like that? What do you have to lose? The way to the real world is out there, somewhere, and I'm gonna find it. Whether you're willing to come with me or not is up to you. But I have a life outside this. Not a particuarly good one... But if I don't try to change anything, nothing's going to change."

"My patients. I'm needed here. I can make a difference. I lived my life striving to be able to help others with my skills, and now I can. Not can I, I'm actually much better at it in here than back home."
She cradles her head in her hands for a few moments before continuing with a sigh.
"It's never that simple you see. I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep much if I just pack up and leave. If just abandon this cause. And that's if I can just walk back into my life. I'm not sure if I can. I've been here, for what feels like a very long time. Might be, or not, time's weird here. But I've gotten used to this, as used to this crazy, insane city as I can. I'm not sure I'm really still sane anymore. If I can just go back and even function. I'm scared. I'm scared of what will happen to people who might have needed me. Of what will become of me back in the real world. Of the guilt. I'll help you however I can. I promise. But I can't leave. I won't leave."
She rests her head again before speaking again.
"Is there, is there anything else you want to know? About what to look out for or anything?"

Gold is malleable. Very malleable and perfectly unsuited for making murder tops.  With that in mind, you struggle against the current, steadying your aim. The first shot strikes the drill bit, damaging it and making the rotation falter. The second shot strikes the gear, the impact deforming it and throwing it further off-balance. A figure rushes by. A black and white suit. Paper-like skin. A crooked smile. The Nightmare from the article is here. It rushes past straight into the faltering whirlpool which slices its body apart, staining the current with ink. But it continues forwards, its body rapidly reassembling, healing until it reaches your foe. Which the scraping sound of metal on metal, it grasps the gear, and tears into it with its tentacles grinding it to a halt before slamming it against the ground. It slashes and stabs at the foe, over and over again before slamming it repeatedly into the ground. All that remains is dented lump of ink-stained gold. Your unlikely alley vanishes without a word.

"Hey, Rach. Can I call you that? I'm gonna. Do you want to do something productive besides standing around looking attractive?"
"Yes. Not sure what, though. Maybe look for that hotel thing we all had cards for?"

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.
