Background:
DigitalDemon is a scoundrel in most meanings of the word. She has stolen from leaders, murdered diplomats, and spends her free time trapping animals to watch them suffer, and only eats them after they've bled to death. Recently, she was locked away for a minor crime, and in this time, she was approached by a weathered man who, obviously, was not righteous in any way, but still wanted the necromancer dead. "He's taken all the fun out of evil, he's just killing everyone!" This obviously upset DigitalDemon, and so, she has a plan to take down this necromancer, but it may require some helping hands.... Thankfully, there's a thieves guild in town which could possibly provide her with a few meat shields companions.

Long, white hair, green eyes, (what some would call) an attractive body, rugged, dirty and torn clothes.

Background:
A Stalwart bounty hunter, This soldier of fortune was originally just a hunter and a lumberjack. What drove him to this path of madness and bloodshed is unknown, other than a stray swing on a fellow's part and a panicked battle. He was left standing, though his fellow was not as lucky. He rapidly took to battle, leaving the family estate to his younger brothers and sisters. He now seeks power and fame, using his mixed of life skills and combat prowess to fuel his travel to it.

Description:
A straight male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is of average build, neither thin nor muscular, neither wiry nor fat. He wears a simple brown and gray wool tunic, with mud stained gray wool pants.

Background:
A simple hunter turned mercenary to improve his lot in life. He's developed quite a knack for killing with a bow and became rather well-known for it. It wasn't too surprising to see a man burst into the doors of his guild to request his assistance with a certain dangerous sounding job.

A tall male with unkempt black hair and grey eyes. He's thin, but not weak-looking by any means. His well-worn clothes are dark in color.

Background: Initially a caravan guard, Kashyyk quickly rose in rank due to a combination of martial competence,  leadership and boot kissing. He ended up leading a small gang of mercenaries, hiring themselves out to protect merchants,  guard towns and strongarm peasants. His underlings did most of the actual work, whilst he focused on making sure they worked as a cohesive unit.

Description: Shorter than average, with tousled brown hair and perpetual stubble.

Background: Growing up her mother was the town healer, and her father was a ex adventurer who had settled down and put down his spear to become a butcher. While Romans was set to become a healer like her mother she never wanted to, she was always to star struck about tales of her father. Eventually her father gave up after all of her complaining and taught her the ways of the spear until he could teach her no more himself. He sent her out in the world to experience it, and learn what he could not teach her at home.

Soon after she left, high in spirits she was accosted by a group of five men who meant ill. Able to kill three of them because of how surprised they were, she was then overwhelmed by the remaining 2 and was slashed across the face and knocked out. When she came to her pants were down, and one of them was pulling down theirs. She doesn't remember what happened afterwards only that her hands were covered in blood and that she went to wash them off in the river.

Afterwards she attended to her cut as best as possible and kept moving. That experience shook her entire foundation, and although she still wanted to prove herself. She held herself differently and trusted only a few, keeping to herself only when on missions did she talk to others because of the sometimes necessity of it.   

Description: Actually a very a pretty girl, you would never be able to tell because of the cloaks and other coverings. She has short cropped black hair, brown eyes, a long scar that runs along her face from her left eyebrow to her cheekbone. She is of a fit and muscular build, which also helps hide that she is a woman. Her voice is raspy and she holds herself proud.

Background:
Pencil always longed for adventure as a youth, and traveled about the world (or, more accurately, his village) in his childhood, visiting and annoying the elderly ones repeatedly. One such had been quite the frontiersman himself, and taught Pencil a little of this and that before passing away. Pencil's father was also very fond of knives, and some of this enthusiasm imprinted itself on Pencil.

Pencil, meanwhile, instead of settling down on his families farm, struck out on his own, with his father's knife in his pocket. His feet took him on various paths, through villages where he labored for a living before moving on. He never encountered adventure as he wished for. His father never knew who took his knife, but could hazard a guess.

That was in his youth. Pencil knows better now. This hasn't stopped him from joining the venture into necromancer's lands on a whim and rumor, though.

Description:
Black hair, hazel colored eyes, and really tanned skin. He is quite fit from travelling everywhere all the time and a look of enthusiasm is almost ever-present on his face. He wears tough clothing, somewhat self tailored, and doesn't mind the great outdoors.

Background: I Was abandoned by my mother at a Temple, the monks living there Raised me to be a priest of Ra, the god of life and light, I was taught some small practical blessings and that all things that live do so by his command by them and stayed with them for many years. at the age of 32 I left the monks to seek guidance from Ra; I wandered for 21 years helping any who needed help, blessing weddings and such. at the age of 53 I found my guidance, Ra came to me in a dream and told me to return to the place I was raised; but upon my arival there I found the monks had been slaughtered, and the blessed dead had risen... so he grabbed a mace from a dead monk, Baried the dead, and left to seek revenge; for now he knew what Ra wanted him to do...

Description: An old wizened man, he has blue eyes that are filled with rage, grey hair, and white skin which has tanned do to his travels, he normally dresses in white or plain robes.

Summary of how magic works

Been thinking about this for a while. Unfortunately, the forum games section is a bit glutted right now and games with multiple players each running their own character are notoriously difficult to find reliable players for.

So, here's what I'm thinking:

 * The premise is, a necromancer has recently established himself in an area.
 * Players are ostensibly tasked with entering the region and finding a way to defeat the necromancer. The "how" will be up to you guys.
 * For general time scale, I'm thinking turn updates will typically constitute about a day of game time, more or less.
 * Everybody makes and operates their own character. Characters can gain and develop skills and equipment over time. Totally up to you guys to handle personal growth vs party needs, resource management, when and whether to stick together and build bases or strike out and do your own thing, etc.
 * I'm not a "killer GM" but permadeath is a possibility.
 * Game will be capped at either 6 or 8 players. New players can join/dead players can rejoin, but a new character is probably not going to be as strong as an old character.
 * World will lean somewhat towards low fantasy and low magic, except for your adversary who heavily outclasses you. Everybody is human. Yes, magic exists, but you won't be slinging fireballs . Iron-age technology. No steam, no guns.
 * Game will lean heavily towards open world sandbox. See any of my previous games.
 * Game will lean heavily towards the "serious" side of the sliding scale of seriousness vs silliness.
 * If we do this, this is a game that would probably run for many months.

Name
We'll be using bay12 user names for simplicity.

Background
Please submit a paragraph or two about your character, background, motivations, etc. Feel free to create your own factions and organizations if you want. Also feel free to coordinate with other players if you want to have related backgrounds or affiliations. Don't feel obligated to match others if you don't want to. There is no central quest giver commanding you all to go on your quest here. We'll find a way to make it all work together.

Description
Basic physical description. gender, body type, clothes, etc.

Equipment
List any equipment you have. Please keep your character background in mind and choose things you would reasonably be able to have.

Skills
Choose two skills, one major, one minor. Please be specific. For example, "sword fighting" rather than "combat." "Carpentry" rather than "making stuff" etc.

All characters subject to approval, not first come first served.


Misc stuff I advise you to consider:

 * You're going to be outnumbered. Going in as a purely combat-oriented bunch of sword swingers is likely to end poorly. At the same time, combat is likely to occur, so a party of purely composed of lumberjacks and ditch diggers isn't likely to end better.
 * Remember, low magic, low fantasy.
 * I intend to be basically common-sense reasonable about performing actions. Anyone with a knife, a tree and 20 minutes could reasonably be expected to carve a more or less functional pointy stick without being a professional carpenter or spear crafter. A team of reasonably athletic nobodies with an axe could reasonably figure out how to cut down a tree and trim it down to a log, without being skilled lumberjacks. On the other hand, even a skilled and talented stonecarver is probably not going to be able to casually quarry a chunk of granite and carve it into a drinking mug in an afternoon. I advise you to choose skills that will help you.
 * Horses and wagons are things. Wagons are slow. Horses require food and water. I offer no particular advice, but be aware that these things do exist.
