Patients leaving AMA
« on: February 01, 2016, 01:24:12 pm »

I have had this happen several times and I'm not sure how to prevent it.  I have had injured dwarves who go to the hospital and leave before full treatment.  These were military and non-military dwarves.  I had full stocks of medical stuff.  A few times the doctor was coming to do something for the patient.

I don't mind slow dwarves hobbling around, but I hate the blinking +'s ...

Any tips on how to prevent this from happening?
I wish we could just tell a dwarf to "go see the doc" and get that left toe sutured ...

I had a solider get injured by a crab.  He was tore up pretty bad.  He was in the hospital.  Got bandaged and stitched.  Later found him dead in a stockpile.  This was early on, still just my first seven dwarfs.  No reports of any further combat so I can only guess his injuries killed him even though he was patched up.  He too left the hospital so assumed all was ok with him.

No, they went to Hel, where they lead a bleak existence in cold and darkness. Valhalla is reserved for valiant warriors.

Had a militia commander go back to training with a shattered spine. Some dwarves are just tough little bastards.

I think a "Go See The Doc" command would be heavenly, and fix a lot of problems.  :(

IIRC, In DF terms a broken spine might be the best broken bone you could ask for. As long as the motor and sensory nerves are intact its like nothing ever happened

He probably died from infection

Some wounds will never fully heal. So if your dwarf is injured and gets motor/sensory nerve damage then while the actual, bleeding, cut open, smashed wound will eventually heal with or without a hospital, Im pretty sure the nerve damage can never be repaired which is why we get the blinking dwarves. Also sometimes with lung damage, it seems they also stay injured forever and those dwarves are constantly winded and having trouble breathing (although they are still very good military dwarves).

I watched a zombie dwarf tear off a girls dress and hit her with it so hard it became lodged in her skull.

Ghoulz - 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on carp insurance.

I had a hospital patient who, even while injured with a broken hand and foot, went into a strange mood. Afterward, he never went back to the hospital, and instead eventually died of his injuries.

Which eally peeved me, since it was a good mood that finally gave me a legendary skill in something I didn't have a maxed dwarf for. :|

That's pretty bad luck. If it should happen again, you could put the dwarf in full armour less one boot, and drop things on them until a new injury happens.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I second the request for a "go see the doctor" command.

Spinal conditions in real life are extremely debilitating.  I don't know how to make suggestions.
