A Game of Gods (IC)
« on: January 31, 2016, 07:19:30 pm »

In the empty void near the mysterious planet six gods forge for themselves bodies so that they they may walk the world and use their divine power upon it. Upon the finalization of their creations the six godly avatars descend onto the unknown world. The six divine beings fall towards the world, the light of their power and descent draws the attention of all who can see them. This cosmic omen will mark the beginning of the Age of The Six Divines.

Cyrus
You land on the edge of a mountain range. To the west the high peaks obscure your vision of the horizon, yet a few caves and grottoes can be seen even from your position on the ground. They seem deep and dark.  To east hills eventually give way to rolling plains. All manner of mundane beasts have fled the area, scared and fearful of the falling avatar. You sense that there is a presence here, however you sense no living creature in the immediate area that could produce such an aura. It is definitely a being of power. Perhaps the crater caused by your descent has disturbed something beneath the ground.

Nix
You descend gracefully into the middle of a desert. Sand dunes stretch on in seemingly every direction. You are still getting accustomed to the sensation of having a physical body, but the endless yellow landscape is somewhat disheartening. Then, a gleam in the distance. It seems that there are some ruins to the west. On the east there seems to be an oasis, perhaps, or perhaps a mirage. Physical existence is fraught with these sort of strange perception anomalies. You notice, curiously, that there is a strange substance directly beneath you. It seems the heat caused by your landing created a large glass disk by melting and fusing the sand beneath you despite you never even touching it.

Writhing Refracted Spark In The Dark Of The Unwhole Heart
You fall rather hard and fast. Of the falling stars that are the Six, you perhaps descend the fastest and brightest. Perhaps a bit too fast and a bit too hard. You plunge almost completely unhindered through the crust of the earth. Only to find your self once again falling through empty space. You stop almost instantly and land lightly on the stone floor of the cavern. Above you tiny droplets of molten rock drip down from where you entered the cavern. You wonder if entered is even the right word for the hole you punched in the earth. Illuminated by the spotlight of sun light that pours in from above you can see this cavern has signs of life. There are small tracks in the mud near a stagnant pool and there are two tunnels that lead out of this cavern. Who knows what lay beyond those. You think that it would be a simple matter to ascend back out of the cavern, but realize that you do not have wings. But a little divine power would easily propel you back to the surface if you so desired.

Morius
Of the two death gods who have alighted upon this world, you are the one who has found a location that is truly suitable to your demeanor. You find yourself in a forest plagued by a strange blight. The plants and animals here seem to be dying slow and unpleasant deaths as the blight takes hold deep within them. Then once they die they blight they accumulated is eaten by scavengers or seeps into the ground, only to kill more and more people. There is smoke in the distance at the edge of the blighted forest. A fire perhaps? Perhaps civilization? To the north the forest thickens and the blight seems to poor out from its dark depths. Perhaps there is something foul afoot here in these woods?

Petnieka
Upon your descent you noticed a something very strange. An island floating on clouds in the sky. You would have stopped to explore it, but you had yet to figure out how to stop your descent. Gravity is a new and unfamiliar thing for you after all. You land, somewhat ungracefully, and ultimately destructively in a marsh. Trees are uprooted and blasted into the air in a circle around your landing site. The wet ground impacted and a craterlike lake is begining to form around you. The marsh is soggy and wet, yet strange lights can be seen to your south. The flicker slightly in the breeze. To your east there are some cliffs that may serve as a good vantage point, or at least, they're more solid ground.

Itheos the Lord of Order
Of all the gods, you descended the slowest and most meticulously. You fell straight down in an orderly manner. Your first action in this world will not be one of chaos. You find yourself on the edge of a frozen tundra. To the north ice and snow stretch far beyond the horizon. Outcroppings of rock and icy spires give hints that this wasteland is less than barren and desolate. To the south the snow covered landscape gives way to hills and and occasional small forests.  A small river of glacial melt water runs north to south here, if there is civilization nearby it would likely be close to this river, but the question is, which way? Alternatively, you can strike off to the west, there seem to some distant mountains which may offer shelter from the elements for fragile mortals.

(All gods have 10 Essence, 5 Divinity, and 0 Religion/Worship to start.)

Interesting.

1D: Create a Beacon that attracts sapient minds to its location.
0D: Explore the caves while the Beacon does
its magic.

Morius

Morius, curious as ever, decides to investigate.
Taking the form of a balding human male, his long cowl blending to the colors of the forest, he stalks to the north, feeling the souls of the blighted creatures vainly struggling their way free of their shells.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Heart brushed her shoulders off, more out of impulse than to clear them of dust. It was a new motion for her, but one that felt right.

"What a fascinating home," she said aloud, though not to anyone in particular.

See if I can follow the tracks. Otherwise, pick a tunnel.

After barely a moments thought Itheos turns and starts walking south along the river, its massive stride eating up the land with a quick, but not frantic, pace. The river struck Itheos as the most likely bet to find mortals, and it figured that the further south it went the better the weather and the wider the river would be, both would be a boon to its designs compared to trying to settle the frozen north.

"My work is begun" said Nix to nothing and no one.

Use a proportionate amount of divinity to spawn a creature from the glass formed beneath me.  It shall be a humanoid glass creature that draws sustenance and form from the surrounding sand.

"Ooooh," noted Petnieka as she fell. "What's this? This is new!" The whole moving downwards fast thing wasn't something she had experienced before, and she let out a surprised but fascinated coo when she hit the ground with a loud thwoomph. She surveyed the damage around her, looking impressed. "Wow, is that all me? Lots of new things! And, speaking of... what are those?"
Perhaps predictably, Petnieka is immediately curious about the lights, and heads south.

Xilbabai
You forge yourself a beacon to attract sapient minds to its location outside the caves. It rises into the air. Its bright light and steady ethereal beat will slowly draw nearby sapients to its location.

You descend into the caves. It looks as if a resent earthquake has struck this section of cave, as there is lose rock from shattered stalactites. You wonder if that earthquake was you. As you descend further into the cave, you begin to see the first signs of subteranian life. Glow worms light the ceiling, and illuminate something you couldn't see previously. Tracks. Bipedal ones, heading deeper into the caves. They were difficult to discern because it looks as if something had been used to try to brush them away. There is water running nearby as well, if finding life is your goal either following the sound of the water or following the tracks will lead you to it.

Morius
As you move deeper and deeper into the woods, the wildlife becomes more and more ill. Most have collapsed to the ground and remained there, unable to move and dying slowly. As far as death goes, it is slow and rather boring to watch. Yet, if you were a god who loved pain and slow still deaths, then this would be right up your alley. You approach the center of the forest. It is without a doubt the center because directly ahead of you, is the largest and most magnificent tree you have ever seen. It towers above the treeline and is undoubtably magical. More interestingly than that, it is completely unharmed. No blight, no death, no toxic poison plauges this tree. Yet not 100 feet away death becomes the lord of the forest. The tree, oddly enough, has a door on its front. Perhaps there is someone who lives within it? Yet equally interestingly, you begin to sense large black shapes moving in the woods behind you. Do you stay to see what they are, or head into the strange tree? Perhaps you even flee the woods all together. What will you do.

Heart
The tracks lead directly into the water. Upon closer examination you see that there is a submerged tunnel there. Both the tracks and the tunnel are quite large. It seems a large beast has traveled through here recently and exited into the submerged tunnel. You don't think the water will bother you much, with a little divine power you could breath the water with ease. Of course you could always take one of the other tunnels too.

10E 6D 0W

Itheos
You follow the river south, and to your surprise it does not widen, but instead splits into two smaller rivers. This would be mildly annoying in your search for civilization if you hadn't already found some. A small village stands where the river splits into two. From your vantage point you can see that the people living there are not actually people, but frogs. Frog people to be exact. They are about the size of a dwarf, and of similar build, but perhaps not as durable. You feel your form shifting to match that of the mortals nearby. You think for a moment that you make quite a dashing frog man. It seems that they have yet to spot you through the foliage around their village, but it is only a matter of time before one of them notices your colossal form.

10E 6D 0W

Nix
You channel your divine energy into the glass that you accidently created. Giving it shape and form, it slowly becomes humanoid. It is larger than a man and composed of a partially translucent, but ultimately crude glass. A shining fireball can be seen burning deep within its chest. It is this flame that not only gives it life, but also its ability to sustain itself off of the sands. As the sands and winds erode away its exterior, more sand may be eaten and turned into glass in the beast's kiln-like core. (2 divinity)

10E 4D 0W

Petnieka
You move southward, interested in the flickering lights. They at first seem dim and distant, but after several minutes of walking you realize that they are fires held aloft on distant poles. A village is partially illuminated by them, and while it is not the largest village that ever was or will be, it is still fairly sizable. Perhaps 1000 individuals? Its hard to quess in the twilight of the marsh, as you can't really tell what are houses and what aren't. But surely, this many buildings means a decent number of sapients. Speaking of which, you have yet to even glimpse one of the inhabitants. Perhaps you should get closer? Or perhaps wait for some to wander this direction?

Morius
10E 6D 0W

Morius paid little heed to the collapsing and dying wildlife. To his eyes, all life was naught but suffering and struggle. To end their pain would only serve to ruin any chance of recovery, whilst the blight, whilst not seeming to display the same wondrously desperate struggle for life seen in most plagues and maladies, was clearly a predator to be respected. He ended his walk to stare at the gigantic abode... A king of a tree indeed...
However if death is the lord of this forest, its avatar would do well to cast aside any fleeting doubts as to the frailty of this new shell. Morius cocks his head to his side, and raising his hand, calls his dagger to him, the one which allows its bearer to walk through locked doors, that death be never barred by such trivial portals.
As the shape of the weapon resolves itself into that of a short kopis, single bladed and aggressively sharp, Morius moves to walk inside.

Petnieka trilled happily upon seeing the village. "Ooooh, perfect! People!"
Transforming herself into her bird form, she proceeded to approach the village from a vantage point that could let her now-small body be relatively unseen, looking at the peoples, figuring out their ways, and seeing how adventurous they are.
Use a Divinity, if necessary, to turn into bird form, and spy on the village from bushes and the like.

Go ahead and dive in, using divine magic to breathe underwater if necessary.

Itheos would not be caught stalking around like a thief on the edge of this small civilization. Instead bold action was required to cement his dominance over these lands. He strode fearlessly forward into the frogman village. As soon as he is noticed by a large enough number of them he belted out "Greetings! I am Itheos. God! I have finally arrived!" As he walked into the village Itheos kept an especial eye out at their level of technology that was available.

Stride boldly into the village, and take note on their technology.
