Thirsty but can't drink
« on: January 31, 2016, 08:18:51 am »

I have a human crossbow man who was beaten up by a weremarmot last month.
He left the hospital to get himself a drink. He grabbed a mug and then stopped moving.

The heath menu shows:

T!: Dehydrated
Gx: Cannot grasp
Mn: Moter nerve
Sn: Sensory nerve
X!: Broken tissue

Pretty sure someone else had this problem a while back, and it was because they were holding their weapons and shield in their one working hand, so couldn't actually drink with the same hand.  Forbidding their weapon and shield may fix the problem.

Of course, if both their hands are impaired to the point of being unable to grasp, they'll never be able to drink on their own again.

Well, they CAN drink by themselves provided all cups are kept away from them. Drinking directly from barrels can be done without grasping, somehow, if I understand it correctly.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have weapon and shield. He's holding a mug (how?)...
I forbid the mug and he went to fetch a new one...still refused to move.

How can he drink without a mug? Do I need to forbid all mugs?

Oh, it works. Finally he ran for the barrels.  :'(

I assume the barrel has no lid.  The drinker just sticks his face(*) into the liquid.

(*) Or beard, if it's a dwarf.  But this was a human.

tbh going all stumpy and dual-stumping a barrel to lift it sounds - not really easy but possibly easier than stumping a goblet

Maybe every barrel has a tap in it?

The thirst indicator waited until he turned his back, then crept up on him and impaled his skull, putting him into a standing coma?
