I'm afraid 14-6 is still out of range for your crossbow. Tiles are counted only through vertical and horizontal movement, not diagonally.

You could also wait for Gammel to move and take his spot, buuut that will put you in range of the gargoyles. I'd say the dagger dude is less scary though.
