"This isn't about the soup," said Artorius.

The jailer looks at the food tray for a moment. "No. Actually. Get up." He removes the key-ring from his belt.

"Is it about the sweetrolls?"

"No, smartass. You're being released. Someone's paid your fine. Now, come with me and we'll get your things." He unlocks the cell door and opens it.

We hum a merry toon as we follow him and wish the guard good luck with his failing love life.

Do we know anybody who would pay our fine? We don't think we know anybody who would pay our fine.

We follow along with interest. This should be good.

Artorius begins to hum a cheery tune as he gets up and follows the guard, somewhat to the latter's annoyance. They pass the other cells, empty save for a lone, drunk, unconscious khajiit, and head up the stairs. Artorius wonders who could have bailed him out. No one he knew would have both the money and the inclination together. Not his friends, nor his mother. As they reached the top of the stairs, he saw someone who seemed to be waiting for them, to whom the guard said "Here he is," before setting about unlocking the evidence chest to retrieve Artorius' belongings.

Said fellow was clearly a Dunmer, with an angular, elven face set with rather stern features, though somewhat worn and lined. This was trimmed with a short, neat charcoal beard and medium-length, short, neat charcoal hair, and all set atop a tall, very solidly build frame clad in quite expensive, though foreign-looking clothes. Artorius had never seen this person before, though something about him seemed somehow familiar.
