I know this is old and everything, but you my friend are one hell of a writer. Discovering threads like this remind me that I should be bothered with DF (girlfriend and work distracting me from playing) and finish my own stories, everything here inspires me to move forward and I thank you for an entertaining read. Now to bed with me, been reading for over 4 hours and its now midnight...

Wow, awesome story and thanks to the guy that bumped it!

Hey Eiba, don't suppose you still have the savegames, do you? You could go back and do a proper ending ;)

Eh, I quite liked the ending. A fitting end for one such as Urist. The mad must burn in a Darwinian process designed to weed out those who think themselves above the common dwarf! For freedom and equality! VIVA REVOLUTION!

*cough*

I think the ending is fine.

I figured there was only two possible ways for this to end.

Urist dying in a palace made by herself from old age, with the wretch that used to be Melbil skittering the dark corners of the hallways on his hunt for what other vermin like himself remain, or for her to hit the fun spot in the mountain.

Looks like it was the latter. Good story though. You could taste the insane which was Urist.

If you want opinions on your writing, you probably could have done the story just as good even if you hadn't made every merchant and their guards have a real character. It does add up to the story length, but sort of derails it from the crazy dwarf it's supposed to be about.

But hey, personal opinions, whatever. Good stuff anyway.

I love this story too.

Funny how i found it hunting down the origins of the name Urists fame.

Ending would have been fitting and was obviously well planned, but you can see Eiba used it too early because he/she had writer's block. Anyway, what happened to the story supposedly planned with the next release?

Great story. I really liked everything. Funny how a game with ASCII graphics can make dwarves so personable.

If you want this thread to stop reappearing, then nobody post in this thread again. Do not respond to necromancers, and it will fall back into the annals of history where it belongs.

Why does anyone always have to be a necromancer?

Great thread and all, but let the past live in the past.
