NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ive spent like 3 hours reading this thinking, hah this is great, these other guys had to wait but i can read the entire thing in two days, BUT WHY! now i have to wait, love the story though, very entertaining. I think melbil should go mad as well, would make a good couple with Urist but PLZ dont kill him!

when i tried this, i just locked the other dwarves outside, eventually all but one went "stark raving mad" four of them drowned themselves in the river, i saw it tun  rinkstruff ran into the river and died

but boy thos dwarves must not need to eat mutch, cuz 2 years into the game and they are still outside the fort with STARVING/MISRIBEL/RUNNING AROUD AND BABBLING

AND NOT THAT I HAVE LIKE 20 IMIGRAnTS OUTSIDE im constant getting messages about tantrums

but i let them gather stuff for me by...

allso, this is *the* best DF story I've read so far (with a bit of shame I have to say I was bored half way through most of the other ones), is there *any* possoblity of an update?

As sad as I am to say it, I am inclined to agree. Bumping the topic is not going to change anything. If Eiba wants to finally update, he will post here himself.

Thanks for bumping this, guys! I wouldn't have had a chance to read it otherwise.

Great story, Eiba! It's surprisingly deep. I love the symbology of the pick and the cat, and the foiling of Melbil and Urist. I also like the unanswered questions with implications for the ending. Is Urist's mental state a result of what society has done to her, or is she just stark raving mad? Will she redeem herself? Can she redeem herself?

It's amazing how such a wonderful story can come from events in a game - but isn't it fitting that Dwarf Fortress, a game which is at least heavily influenced by ThreeToe's storytelling, should in turn tell its own stories?

Unfortunately we aren't going to get an ending. I think we might as well accept that and stop asking for updates, because they won't happen.
