Hmm.  Cook or brewer?  Do I want to spend all day surrounded by wonderfully bubbling sauces, or do I want to spend the entire day "tasting" new brews?  Hmm.  Sign me up as... the brewer.

Hehe     :p

And we arrive at the mountain.

Slartibartfast gets started on digging out some space for the workshops. Gaulgath is off chopping down some trees while the others unload the wagons. Xenomorph has already harvested some rope reed.

The first wildlife shows up.

However in the distance a much worse threat appears.

Gaulgath has his workshop up and running and has started to crank out barrels.

Xenomorph has harvested many prickle berries, rat weed and strawberries.

Slartibartfast runs into the first vein of copper while digging out the second workshop area.

The still and kitchen are now operational and Cerej starts brewing. The dwarven wine produced from the plump helmets  will be cooked with the meat. This should provide sufficient food until the caravan arrives.

Seed storage is moved inside as the rain was washing the seeds out of the dwarves hands.

Slartibartfast continues mining out the first food storage and dining rooms.

The first cooked meal is produced.

Slartibartfast finds a gem pocket.

And fails to extact any of them.

But succeeds with those in the corridor.

Ah limestone...

yep there is the river, and no flooding.

Well I couldn't be happier- watching someone else's fortress develop can be even more interesting than making your own.

...

Has the Mason been taken yet? I'd prefer to be him, but any dwarf would do.

Morning all.

Yep you are now the cook.

The meals and alcohol stockpile is filling rapidly, thanks to Cerej and JimmyJ.

Eiba gets started on the first bridge.

Meanwhile Xenomorph spots chimpanzees across the river.

Slartibartfast does a spot of smoothing before crossing the river.

Tin is found across the river.

Grek becomes the first dwarf to go on break.

The metalsmith arrives along with a peasant.

The Peasant is set to work as an engraver while Slartibartfast gets back to digging.

Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!
Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!

Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!
