I wish you and your teammates luck, Eddie. And I think the overall trial is over, as our Generals have said. It's just some... personal business being finished.

((Should I assume Saint has been notified of his promotion, and by extension, Maurice's trial?  'Cause there's things Saint would want to say to him.

Secondly, does Saint have access to the ship's cameras, and if not, can he gain access with +4 aux?
))

You can assume you've seen all this and know all this and etc etc.

((M'kay, so the reality decided to fold itself and deny the last moments, it seems. I mean, I did not ask for this, but if we're given a second chance I'm using it to dot all the "i"s and cross all "t"s on the matter.))

I see. I see it well, Steve. But you are mistaken. I "aided the enemy" out of compassion - I volunteered to help. I worked and helped throughout the HMRC service out of the same compassion - and I helped people on my own volition; I was a surgeon, a medic, a doctor.
I came forward to the Doctor, and became his student for the sake of the survival of humanity, because that is what I believed in. I accepted Simus' offer of scientific position on Hephaestus because it coincided and I could help. I grew attached to its people, and did what I could to help them; I offered my service for the General's duty for the same reason.

But I am not a scientist by heart. There is only one significant scientist in ARM, and you know him. In the end, it doesn't really matter if I would help him, or not. We all are just flecks of dust on his and yours road. So I aspired to be more than that.

And that is why I will not contend with the role of a trooper. And that is why I will not contend with the role of a scientist. You have many, many, many people to fill those roles for you. Before, perhaps, there had been some uses to my assistance when we had our backs against the wall; now, with a safe way out, it is no longer the matter of "whether humanity would survive" - it is the matter of "how much of it we will be able to save". I am not truly needed there, and you know it full well. So I offered you the only unique thing I could suggest - my ultimate service, to put my life on the altar of human history - with just the off chance it would not be lost in vain. Few people would have the nerve and willingness to do that much, and even fewer would have the qualities that made them suitable for such an attempt. That is where, I dare say, I couldn't be easily replaced by another trooper.

In the end, the authority, legal standing, ability to dabble in research and ARM strategy - they all are secondary. These are my secondary specialisations or potential assistances I could provide. But if you, Steve, do not have a use for my willingness - if Humanity does not have a use for my willingness - then I am truly and fully interchangeable, and is not of any special use to anyone, and do not care if I live or die any longer.

So I ask you for the second, and final time, Steve: would you let me fulfil my fate, allowing me to atone for my sins (which you - Humanity - have judged significant) and bring my best ability to use, or do you truly have no use for the person like me other than as yet another brick in the wall?

Demand the bloody answer from Steve.
I didn't deny the action, I was just saying that it wasn't bolded and that if you really wanted to kill yourself there were infinitely more effective ways than severing a major artery or 3. I mean Xan got his whole head cut off and he still blew up a space ship.

If ya wanna do it, you can do it, but I'm just pointing out that people are probably just gonna drag you 50 feet down the hall and revive you.

A young man in a space-suit suddenly appears in the hanger along with that weird metal ball Lucricia brought in earlier, the same one that mysteriously disappeared along with some hull.

((I'm assuming everyone else is leaving, and that a few minutes have passed since Steve's judgement fell.))

An unadorned assaultsuit strides into the hanger as the remaining operative file out, leaving Maurice mostly alone.  It pauses a moment, before the cockpit opens and lets a single robosod hop out holding a helmet.  The robosod turns to look back at the crowd of soldiers leaves, and activates its emoticon display to show SS.  "It seems I'm a bit late to the trial.  Strangely, nobody saw fit to notify me about my friend and coworker's judgement until after it had already passed.  I suppose people just forget about you when you don't regularly cause terrible disasters."  The robot emits an electronic sigh, before turning back to Maurice, and crossing its arms.  "You seem to have pissed a number of people off, Maurice.  I'd rather not be overheard by angry individuals, and you never did get that man-machine interface installed, so please, take this."  The robot then offers Maurice the helmet it is carrying.

I'm certain the hangar is bigger than a giant robot closet. So unless Miyamoto stays in the exact same spot, they could be alone.

... Unless the hangar is a closet for giant robots. Just hang all your giant robots in the robot closet.

No, wait, didn't Steve account for your giant synthflesh ass during the remodeling? So that you can go to a few other rooms now?))

Saint patiently waits for several minutes after offering the helmet, only for Maurice to begin drooling and fall over.  For nearly a minute, Saint doesn't show any indication that he has noticed, but eventually he sarcastically says "Oh.  You possess perfect timing as usual, I see."  Saint then crouches down and places the helmet on Maurice's head.  In a mildly annoyed tone, he orders "Load him up and bring him back to Hephaestus." and his body quickly obeys, picking Maurice up before roughly shoving him into the nearby assaultsuit's cockpit, in an uncomfortable looking position.  The cockpit then closes, and the heavy war machine walks off, escorted by the robosod.

Inside the cockpit, Maurice twitches as he hears Simus call out to him from a distance.  She pleads with him to wake up, to save her, but he remains catatonic.
