1. WMDs require 200 supplies. Do they have to be built + transported or is that just a cost every time we deploy a WMD?
-> 200 Supplies to build them. Then you have to transport them via ship to the target and decide to actually deploy them, which constitutes an action (so either orbital drop or nuke shit not both)
2. WMDs are listed as destroying 1d1 IC. Is this a mistake?
-> It is not. 1d1 means fifty fifty chance of them nuking away ICs
3. Are Spec-Ops regiments just Marine regiments with combat strength 4?
->yup just like Veterans are upgraded Regulars. As the game progresses depending on your faction they may or may not get other bonuses to differentiate them propelry from your Marines.
4. When will the new rules for fortresses come into play, next turn? (I'm for defense in depth, by the way, though it seems a little powerful - maybe have a round or two of fighting with no bonus between each defensive line as the defenders pull back, or have the strength of each successive defensive line reduce by 1?)
-> Come into play this (next) turn. Fighting over one ring of defense will continue until all of it is destroyed. So it may very well be that you fight over [0,0,6,0,0] defense ring and the defender loses twenty regiments before his troops finally decide to retreat to the next ring. So yeah you might wipe out defenders before the fortress is fubar.
I also considered that with each ring the defenses get weaker, however whether from outside to inside or from the inside to the outside im not sure yet. (aka 1,1,1,1,1 on the first ring and 6,6,6,6,6 on the last or vice versa)

Thanks. One last question though - will annexing the UMC simply move all their assets - including military forces - to my control, and can I begin to make use of these right away?
Also, this may sound rather petty, but in the turn the Olympian Alliance is listed as defeated rather than the UMC.

...for the record, the Coalition never formally surrendered, and it's military assets will likely resist futilely to the bitter end.

their troops will vanish and disband having no interest in fighting for you. the same goes for the fleet...the rest will stay as it is.

That seems like a thing that should be a nation by nation thing determined by backstory.

Same thing for every player. If your troops have no supplies and are attacked they surrender, simply because they have nothing to fight with. Imagine Soviet Union Stalingrad advances with half the men getting a rifle and the other half getting nothing...in this case not even ammunition...and the commissars cant even execute them for cowardice since they dont have munitions either.

However should you have a fleet/army and supplies...you are not out of the game...just out of production capabilities.

Honestly The salvatores if we were gonna lose would be willing to be bullet shields to allow civilians to escape but in a normal battle yeah they would surrender.

Speaking of, if you don't have enough supplies to complete a project ( like 79 instead of 100), does it just use up the last of your supplies and then grind to a halt?

( also did we melt down the bullets for ship parts or something?)

if you lack the supplies the project will not be done and you keep the supplies.

Its not just bullets, its fuels, boots, uniforms, food, drinks, everything. Supplies are just that: everything you need to keep an army running.

Ech...okay folks, i've done this far too often recently and it annoys the fuck out of me but here we are again:

I am abandoning this game. Sorry to all the people who invested time and effort into this and are left hanging again. As it stands turns in Solar War turn into hours long slogs of me comparing rolls and writing all of them down...several thousand at a time. That's a lot you have seen it in the last few round but with ever growing armies this becomes a task of ridiculous proportions. I tried during this turn update to maybe not write down rolls but that felt like i was simply lazy and people don't know whats going on and might assume im making the results up.

But as it stands it is unmanageable for me. Some of you already noticed this and warned me to develop something less number heavy but i thought, nah the system is good this will work. It does not. Not as it stands. Rolling for 300 Regiments against 300 Regiments on an open fieldbattle involves at least 600 rolls (best case scenario) if not hundreds more. That is before fortresses come in. And i in my own idiocy trying to balance things out have actually added work in the form of up adding another up to 180 rolls (in the case of Indomitable Fortresses).

I really like the system and setting but i simply cannot bring myself to continue this. If anyone wants to continue this, pm me, i will provide you with the current turn as far as it is, as well as information on Events, Technology advances and Measures of Desperation, Manpower computation (is that the right word?) and whatever else you need. Maybe someone else has the time and grit needed to continue this or has an idea to do this more efficiently and easier...again apologies to you all, im doing this faaar too often and recently my track record of finishing games has been abysmally low (not that it has been particularly high before seeing as i have finished two or three games out of the twenty or thirty or so i have started but ech...), all of that being said, im making a new game, one in an entirely different direction, if you have interest, players from this game will get preferential consideration for their sheets (i'll post the link for it soonishly in here).

I'm interested in the new game thing and while I'd love to co gm this...even with all my free time I feel I'd be thrashed since I've never been good with numbers.
