Hey RTDers!

I'm starting a new RTD where you are, as it says in the title, Vikings. I'll be taking 6 people. Your job is to conduct raids on the rest of Europe and become filthy stinking rich and leader of a massive warband.

Character sheet:

Each person starts with a Standard Roundshield (can be used to block, adds to armor rolls)

Seaxe Knife (short slashing knife, 1 ft long)

Standard Clothes,
and 10 peningas (silver coins).

Choose one of each:

Weapon:
Sword: Standard 1 handed basic sword. 3 feet long. Can be used with shield. No bonuses or disadvantages.

Battleaxe: Standard 1 handed basic axe. 3 feet long. Can be used with shield. Bonus against enemy shields. Cannot stab.

Double Axe: Large, 2-handed battle axe. 5 feet long. Cannot be used with a shield. Cannot stab. Bonus against shields and armor. Deals more damage than 1h battle axe.

Spear: Standard basic spear. 5 feet long. Can be used one-handed with a shield or two-handed for a bonus to damage. Bonus against chainmail. Cannot slash. Disadvantage against solid plate armor.

Bow: Standard bow. 10 arrows. 5 ft long, effective range 650 ft. Bonus against chain and light armor. Cannot be used in melee. Cannot be used with a shield.

Spangenhelm: Standard helmet. Basically a bowl with a noseguard on it.

Leather Cuirass: Protects your wobbly bits. A step up from a leather shirt.

He is the first one to punch someone (does not matter who) at a feast, and last one to fall down (from drinking too much, obviously) He may be stupid, but does know how to use his head (to headbutt someone of course).

Appearance: Lean man with messy golden hair and claw marks on his right cheek. Keeps his beard short.
Background: Ulvar was born in a small village near ancient forest. Hunting runs in his family - both his father, uncle and two brothers were masters of their craft, stalking prey night and day and making various traps to ease their hardships. Ulvar grew with bow in his hands and eventually his active nature drew him to seek plunder and glory instead of furs and meat. Sigurd disapproves of his son 'foolishness' and thinks he would soon overgrow it. If he survives, that is.

Background: The youngest of five brothers, Wilhelm always got ahead  through deceit and subterfuge from behind the scenes. He was kicked out of his village for burglary and has drifted throughout the land as a common thief.

Appearance: A bald man, whose face is covered with nicks, scrapes and just general signs of wear and tear.  His dark brown beard is in patches, with bits of greyed scar tissue peeking through. 
Background: A troublemaker from his youth, Ragnar was once a carefree young norseman, who treated life like a game.  Up until he bedded the wrong jarl's daughter.  His family didn't see him again for weeks, and when he returned, he was half-dead, aged before his time, and left marked for life.  Since then, life has lost much of its joy for Ragnar, who hopes that Valhalla will prove better.

Background: Oh, me life? Oh, I've always just gone and killed things. When I was a wee boy and me mum and dad were long gone to the sea floor during an attack on good ol' England, I used to run out into the woods all the time. I'd find me the biggest most dangerous animal, and I'd beat it to death! Hah! Such fun. Nowadays I really just go on raids and clobber stupid people with axes.

I brought me these bits o' equipment.
A nice ol' standard roundshield.
A lovely little saxe- I mean, seaxe knife.
I also brought me good ol' double handed axe, my love and joy. Ah....
Oh. And I brought me a leather cuirass. Don't know how good it is. Never been hit.

All of you have lived in the small village of Skyfa By your entire lives. This morning, a rider summoned you all to the nearby ringfort of Skyfa, wherein dwells Jarl Sigurd Haraldsson, your liegelord. As you walk into his longhall, with its smoky interior, rich tapestries, and kettles of rich stew crowding around firepits, you feel welcomed. Your Jarl is a kind and generous ruler.

At last, he speaks. He is an old man, but strong still, with white hair and beard. 3 golden rings adorn each of his upper arms, signifying his rank. He says:

"Aaah, good. Fresh warriors. Now, I am given to understand you are all strong fighters in your own right, and I most definitely did not instruct my men to pick up some random people from the village. Now, one of the raiding crews was killed to a man on a disastrous expedition into Frankish territory. They are with Odin now." Here he pauses for breath and a swig of mead.

After a deep drink, he continues "Now, you will take their ship, The Bryding, and take their place. We will not mount expeditions tor Frankish territory for some time after that, but you are to put together a warband and gain loot, glory, and victory. Of course, as your Jarl, I'll take a little bit...." He trails off into dreams of gold for a minute.

He then suddenly comes to his senses. "Anyway, the ship is down at the docks. I've told the workers it belongs to you now. Take this parchment with my signet ring. Go buy food for the journey and find some drunks or bums to help you not die. Of course, they'll want a share of the take..."
