Stuck between doing a thing that I probably cannot do, thing that likely cannot be done and thing that could have been done easily five years ago, but now is the same exercise in futility.

Gah, ticks. Thankfully I felt the bastard crawling on me before it bit, but it fell off onto the fake fur throw and I had to spend some time locating it *and* I'm going to be suspicious of any slight itch or crawling sensation for the rest of today.

Ticks seem pretty spooky. It looks like blacklegged ticks spread Lyme disease in the United States.
In general, infected ticks must be attached for more than 24 hours to transmit infection; prompt tick removal can prevent transmission.

Oh yeah, they're a pain for disease. Lyme disease, viral encephalomyelitis, and the US's lone star tick can give you a red meat allergy due to one of the proteins in its saliva being similar to the alpha-gal found on red meat. To say nothing of the fact that Australia (Of fucking course) and its paralysis tick.

Luckily I almost immediately get tick-bite granulomas, so when I'm bitten I know almost immediately. Unluckily, they itch really intensely for a month or two after the bite.

Ticks are really out of control this season. Hearing tons about them even from people in town.

That's the case here too. Way too many. Constantly pulling them off the dogs, off myself. Thankfully we don't have any tickborne diseases but still.

I feel extremely tired out and it has been a long time since I last time posted here. I have a lot of exams, and I always felt that I am in a lack of time to review the knowledge. Get up at 11 a.m. start to study in the library at noon, have a nap at 7 p.m. go back to my dormitory at 9 p.m. and finally continue the study from 23:50 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Every day my time is tight and it seems that I have no chance to relax, but my roommates, they are all so relaxed that they just play video games all day long, I don’t know how they remember the ugly medical English words and the anatomy and histology structures. It seems that I push stress on myself too much.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

You need to relax too, it’ll be better for your studying in the long-run. It’s hard when you think you’ve got things you should be doing, but just taking 30 to 60 minutes to focus on nothing but doing something you enjoy and switching off will do you wonders.

Build time into your schedule just for yourself. You can always "do more work" but that isn't always the best thing for you.

For example, on Wednesdays I take an hour for lunch even though work serves lunch here as part of our compensation. I use it to go get a bowl of Pho, some tea and generally just have an actual lunch instead of eating at my desk and continuing to work.

For example: make Friday after 9pm "your time." Play some games or do whatever is fun and reserve that time for something for yourself. Don't let school or work intrude on it. If you're already working hard, working just that much harder has diminishing returns, both on what it gets you and your mental health.

Plus sleep schedules man. If you stop studying at 1am instead of 3am, then you can get up by 9am instead of 11am. As someone who stays up until 5am on the weekends sometime, disrupting your sleep schedule constantly isn't good for you, and operating at times your body should be sleeping just destroys your sleep benefits further. Your brain needs time to throttle down, otherwise your sleep quality is shit. That's why they recommend not using a computer screen or phone for an hour before you go to bed, to give your eyes and your brain time to relax and get ready for sleep. If you turn from looking at a computer or phone screen to going straight to bed, you'll spend an hour just laying there throttling down.

An ongoing trend of not finishing everything up at the end of the work day, and so having to scramble to do it the next morning, which generally results in me having to somebody else's job for them before I can start my own job. The morning scramble making that even more difficult because the number of people in this place who can do a very basic task correctly can be counted on one hand, and so I have to fix those mistakes.

It's not that we're getting enough product priced, it's just that it's not getting out onto the sales floor. The main problem is the supervisor just wanders around being an attention-seeking douchebag when he can clearly see there's a problem and does nothing about it. And today was all the more irritating when he actually did at the end of the day tell at least one to actually help deal with the backup, only for them to flatly refuse to do so, knowing full well nothing is going to be done about it.

Moved to Three for a 4/5G internet connection to the house, since the copper cable's slow as fuck and become super unstable. Nobody wanted to fix it despite the constant complaining.

Three, however, has an 18+ filter on as standard, and demands your ID to turn it off. This isn't an issue because of porn, this is an issue because half the sites it blocks aren't even 18+ and the filter's far more judicious than it should be. Might have to talk to my mum about this, given that I'm doing zoology it could easily be problematic if I need to look up, say, information on an animal's genitalia or reproduction or something and Three goes "Nope, you're a child until proven otherwise you naughty little pervert"

EDIT: For reference, I can't even access Urban Dictionary.

Oddly, as of right now, this month for the first time, there seems to be new websites to pay all my online bills for local utilities and they all have little annoying fees that were not there before. Water company, Sewer district, electric co, gas co, trash co, etc, etc. I paid my bills for years this way and now, for the first time, it's $4 to use the website for the exact same thing that had been free for years for each bill. It ends up being like $40 more per month. So that's like $480/year (Some are $2, some are $5..... it averages to like $4 or $3.95 or whatever). WTF? It's actually legit. I double checked and everything. They have every bill I've paid for years and years going back and my saved payment information for those bills....It has the website registered on my actual printed paper utility bill and the QR code on the paper bill statement. It references that they will be implementing new payment software....

It may actually be cheaper to send checks again, like real paper checks with stamps. A checkbook from the bank is slim to nil cost. A stamp is like 68 cents x 10 is $6.80.... x 12 months is $68.00/ year $81/year.... The websites for the water and other utilities still charges the fee even if you autopay....

So that'd be $480 - $81 = $399 /year I'd save by doing my bills by actual.... postal mail with checks.....

I don't get that we are in just a ridiculous timeline. I'm actually going to be writing physical checks and using envelopes and stamps through the mail rather than online bill pay aren't I? How is this possible? Why is this happening now...? There is no reason for this. They pushed online bill pay and going paperless for years. Now they just want extra money for it for no reason.... I'm somehow getting an actual paper checkbook aren't I? I'm going to be writing out actual physical paper checks again like my mom aren't I?

I ... don't... what...? Why? There was nothing, nothing wrong with the old system. It worked well. It was free. No one complained. It actually saved the local government utility companies money but just... more money because more money.... Here, just pay like almost $500 more per year ish for a service that was literally free last month and years before. I'm actually going to be writing physical paper checks out, aren't I? ....  I'm just screaming internally at the regressiveness. Worse for the environment and people can't afford it with inflation like this now..... Wow.
