Ah fuck I just realised this year has been so shitty I even forgot about the necrothread
Good thing someone else remembered to keep up the ritual, who knows what will happen if they don't preform it every year!

So my ear's a bit better today, I can hear out of it mostly normally now? Just got some persistent tinnitus now. Gonna keep applying the anti-wax stuff for a while though to make sure it's all cleared.

You shouldn't be the one sticking stuff in your ear.
An ear doctor can give you a cleaning, which should be free with most modern insurance.

Yeah, a doctor's assistent can very easily and comfortably clean your ears. You don't need an ear doctor for that. A GP's assistant can do that just fine.
However, before going there, it is advised always to pre-treat your ear for a few days with something as simple as some olive (or sunflower) oil. It will make the ear wax softer and easier to rinse. Tilt your head so your ear faces straight upwards, pour half a teaspoon of oil into the ear, softly knead your ear from the outside a little so it spreads well, then tilt your head the other way to let it flow out again. Repeat for the other ear. Feel free to clean the outside of the ear with some soft tissue so you don't get your pillow all fatty from the oil.

It's not an unpleasant treatment, ear rinsing. I kinda like the feeling haha. They use this thing that looks like a huge ass metal syringe without needle, it looks kinda scary but it will just be used to create water pressure when rinsing your ears with some comfortably warm water.
