From what Wallace can tell, the walls are mostly earthen, are roughly two meters thick, and are supported by a wide trench in front of them that is lined with barbed wire.
Without getting closer, or preferably inside, he cant tell much more than that. Well, except that there is no gate on the two sides that he can see.

Wallace nods at Lilya's suggestion. He then shifts his binoculars from the walls itself to the figures on the wall.

Wallace, after watching the figures on the walls for a while, you think that there are about six individuals who look like they have some idea what they are doing, are armed with assault rifles, and are patrolling the wall in circuits while a bunch of what look to be recent conscripts stand watch with bolt action rifles.

The Doctor paused to consider the village as Wallace watched through the binocs.

"Hmm, flag suggests they have some semblance of authority left in the town. Walls suggest, needing to keep a lot of people out. Not sure how'd they'd react to seeing a group of armed folks such as us. What do you think, worth saying hello?"

"I think so. If they're friendly even better. But if they start shooting at us, we bug out." Wallace says.

Lilya heads straight to nearest entrance to the village.

(lets get on with it)

Wallace glares at the walls. The large man then appears pensive for a moment. He picks up his binoculars once again and scans for cover or obstacles on the land between his team and the walls.

Wallace sees a fair number of really low berms running across the fields to the walls, almost all heading roughly to the north-east. He also takes a moment to look over the walls in general, spotting one of the guards looking over to where the group is.

Stealth rolls from the group, if you please.

 Oof. Well then.
Also, as a quick note that I have been holding off on stating due to lack of an idea of how to put it, Pi has dropped out of the game, and seemingly out of the Internet in general. Something about not being productive enough.

After noting the sentry looking towards them everyone attempts to hide. That is, except for the Captain, who decided to stand up and wave hello, much to the distress of the rest of the group, particularly Kepler. The sentry then proceed to wave back, turned to call something into the village, and within a somewhat short amount of time another guard appeared with a loudhailer and started saying something in Polish, accompanied with gestures towards the North-West.

 Anyone up for language skills?

Seeing Captain Matthias is alive and unassailed by bullets, Wallace figures his leader's tact diplomacy worked. He gets up from the ground and takes a few steps into the clearing.

"It looks like they want us to head thataway." He says, gesturing his hand northwest. "I bet they're letting us in town. That's a relief."
