Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

The Navy SEAL shifts his attention to the Russian soldier, not say thing, only looking at her. Memories are brought back. He remembers a time when he was a POW held captive by foreign men. He could empathize with that, but as for being a lone prisoner, Wallace could only imagine and sympathize.

 Arron looks up "Something I nabbed while we where getting shuttled through England. Ah... Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Seems like its written for teens." He then gets back to reading.

The Captain furrowed his brow, wishing he had taken more language training. "Anyone speak Russian?"

"The 5th might be gone, but there might be survivors. If there are more friendly faces I'd rather have them with us, then have to trek it alone all the way back to the atlantic."

"As for provisions, I agree. No sense using them when we have a perfectly good forest of food. If one of you is willing to try their hand searching for some food, I'll start collecting dry wood for the still. One of us will have to stick by our Russian friend as well though. Unless she speaks any English?"

He turned to the prisoner, speaking slowly and deliberately in the hopes it would be relatively easy to comprehend. "Do you speak English? Or other languages?" He picked up a small branch. "Help us pickup firewood?"

CPO Gordon nods in response to Private Arron. Best not to disturb a man's reading.

Wallace gets up from the log and walks his way over to Unimog. He rummages through truck in search for the hatchet.

"Hey Harry." Wallace calls out to the man under the truck. He hesitates for a second. It's not best to disturb a man's sleep, but sometimes even other things outweigh the best. Sometimes. "Wake up. We need you to some translating for us."

I'm useing the phonetic setting, so anything you actually understand probably came across in game.)

"Da Angliyskiy.
Net tol'ko russkiy i angliyskiy." she replys to the questions in what might of been an attempt at English.

At the mention of work, she shakes her head and point's to her rank strips.

"Net YA Serzhant , ofitser ! YA ne rabotayu.
Tret'ya Zhenevskaya Razdel III Stat'ya 49 , govoryat, ya tol'ko sdelat' Kontrolery rabotayut
Yesli ya ne byl v plenu i byl moye oruzhiye , to ya vam pomoch'.' "  she exclaims in russian.

 Harry makes a long series of angry noises, probably over being woken. "I was having the best dream... Steak super with an icecream float... Oh, hey, the sarges talking. ((Rolling against an eight, got a 2)) Ranní ruský! Chápete dost o tom? Vím, že to není rusky, ale je to trochu podobné, ano?" He continues to chatter on in Czech, hoping that enough of what he is saying comes across in translation.



Alright, thats good enough to get your questions across, as Funk has responded to already.

The language rules are really setup for talking to NPCs, and break a bit when its just PCs...

After finding the hatchet, Wallace climbs out of the Unimog. With hatchet in hand, he walks back to the small gathering.

"Hey Captain, I got a small axe you can use for getting wood." Wallace says as he extends the hatchet towards Dr. Marshal Matthias. He then retracts the hatchet closer to himself. "Well then again, I guess I could be chopping wood instead of going out and scouting. You got a preference on what I do Captain?"

Lilya stairs at the chatterng man, he's not speaking like the rest, he might be speaking in greek or swiss but  for all Lilya can understand it could be martian.

The Captain frowned at the Spetnaz's attempt at communication, but a look of comprehension passed over his face. Needless to say, he didn't seem impressed.

He spoke clearly adding in hand gestures when he thought it would be appropriate.
"Listen, in the army NCOs work for a living. And Geneva? I imagine it's nothing but a glowing crater thanks to your country. So why don't you help me pick up some god damn firewood, and maybe I can teach you a few more words of english. If you help I'll even consider given you your weapons back. Okay?"

He turned to Wallace, and offered a reassuring smile extending his arm for the hatchet. "It's okay, go with the Colonel. Some wood chopping would probably do me some good."

The Doctor narrowed his eyes at Aaron for a moment, before relaxing and offering up a quick smirk. "Well maybe we can stop by and pay them a visit if we get enough wood then."

Alan nods to Wallace. "We'll go, Chief. We'll start with the immediate surroundings first. If they're safe, we can look at the villages around here tomorrow. Kalisz, maybe the day after." He looks up from the map. "Are you experienced in scouting?"

He watches the interaction between the prisoner and the others, understanding nothing of the spoken Russian. "Captain? Watch your back." He motions to Wallace to follow him to the vehicles and, on the way, passes by close to Dr. Matthias. "I'd prefer the prisoner to not end up with a hatchet in her head," he quietly says to him on passing by, taking care that he's not overheard.
