Sounds fighty. Not sure whether it is or not, mostly I had a post malfunction.

Probably if we are fighting, you'd have to clue me in about what we are fighting about? Otherwise I'm not sure on what to reply with.
I think there's some confusion, it looked like you were doing QFT, which could imply you thought Duuvian would edit his post later. I think no one is fighting and it was an honest forum glitch

Meanwhile as the UK drops below 0*C and I'm freezing my nuts off at home, we can't seem to stop NIMBYism torpedoing any attempt at modernising our energy infrastructure. We can't do nuclear, we can't do renewables, what the fuck are we supposed to do?  ::)

Yeah basically I had some thoughts, decided not to post them and when I logged in next there was a post that was pure quote, probably a mix up on my end.

I'd say bury the folks that die of exposure, but that's probably too expensive. Cremation and dumping the ashes in a sump, I guess!

... though from a quick eyeball it only looks a little under freezing? It's only a bit colder in london than where I'm at in florida lol and we're forecast to dip to or under it in the next day or two (and then rubberband twenty something degrees up a day or two later but that's winter the last decade or two). Put on a (second) coat and pile on some blankets, install a pet on your feet, it's not even ten under yet, you're probably okay.

Yah London only -2*C rest of the country got it worse, some places -18*C. Doesn't help as well that our country is really bad at dealing with any weather outside the ranges of 12-24*C since it manages to get surprised every time we get snow or a heatwave even though they're both becoming more common

The satirical column of my Volkskrant newspaper had a civil lawyer write a letter to our extreme right minister of Asylum and Deportations, Marjolein Faber, and had it delivered to her in person by an official bailiff.

In the letter they tell her to cease and desist acting like she does, because how she acts is unfair competition to their satirical column, especially considering she is recieving government support.

She is an extreme right anti-immigrant PVV (Wilders' party) minister who thinks she can get away with ignoring parliament, senate and council of state and refuses to believe otherwise, and does so time and time again while showing she has not only not done her minister's homework, but probably never finished kindergarten either. I have met goldfish that seemed more intelligent.

German AfDs became the second largest party in today's elections. About 20% of all votes. This iss comparable to the amount of votes Wilders got here.
However, Wilders is not as extreme far right as AfD. They are under investigation of the German secret service for extremism and nazi sympathies.
CDU (centre right to right) became the largest party. Bad times ahead. Let's hope the Brandmauer holds.

Looks like it was an East Germany vs West Germany thing

Oh hey, East Germany letting down the side again.

Apparently they had far less denazification than West Germany, and it still shows.

I am also worried that German youth voted both for AFD and Linke+BSW.

East Germany is also poorer, they've never really recovered from the Soviet period and feel abandoned and resentful when they compare themselves to West Germany.

Denazification has little to do with it.

AfD got what in Eastern Germany? Something around 1/3, right?. Do you truly think that 33% of people there are neo-Nazies? If this would be true, we would see some new incarnation of brownshirts already and observe widespread terrorism

AfD is not a Neo-Nazi party. It doesn't have a Neo-Nazi programme. It doesn't make Neo-Nazi promises. After all, it is impossible by German law.

AfD is a far-right party that tolerates cryptic (or not-so-cryptic) Neo-Nazi in their ranks. It is also a party that Neo-Nazi vote for because they have nothing ideologically closer. (Not that a hardcore Neo-Nazi can support a party with a lesbian leader who has a 'racially inferior' partner.)
