Vault 021 - A Fallout RTD
« on: January 10, 2016, 04:44:15 pm »

Hey there Bay12 Forum!

Since I joined Bay12 just for the RTD/Mafia section, I thought I should start my own RTD asap.

The RTD im hosting is a Fallout based RTD, since I saw one from a couple of months ago, which looked great.

Vault 021 was the greatest precaution to many, as well as confusing to others.

Many questions were asked, "Why do we need this? What is it?"

Built in the year of 1999 in the city of London , the labyrinth that was Vault 021 was left deserted for many years, then housing strange creatures, and things humans wouldn't have dreamt of being possible, such as robots, radioactive crockroaches and much more.

Then, twelve years later, the apocalypse came, people were warned to get to their nearest vaults over the world, then ten minutes later, whoever wasnt in a Vault was pronounced dead.

You're one of the many people who made it into the Vault, and thus comes your mission.

Survive

While you may be in a Vault, this doesnt mean people have changed, so you're always in danger.

To start, i'd like you to post a very small character sheet:

Name:
Gender:
Job in Vault:
Age: (not needes but still there if wanted)
Additional Information: Same as above

I'll be needing one of the people who sign up to be the overseer of the Vault. As soon as we have a Overseer, we can start.

Post an action with your signup, and lastly:

|| Any events that happen will show up like this ||

EDIT: May have forgot to mention, whatever job you have will affect some rolls you have in this RtD :)

Name: Richard Morris
Gender: Male
Job in Vault: Overseer
Age: 65
Additional Information:

Morris is a grim, determined man whose grey eyes have been blinded long ago by horror. His sharp, chiseled face gives him the likeness of stone, and his tall height allows him to exude control and superiority.

Inside his psyche, however, is a different man. A man ragged and tortured, fighting his inner demons every waking moment, and fleeing from them every dreaming night.

Name: Zachary Grant
Gender: Male
Job in the vault: Executive administrator
Age: 48
Additional Information:

It's never been easy with Richard, but as he aged, it became worse, to the point where he went blind literally as well as figuratively. There is something pushing Richard towards insanity, but he won't share, obviously.
It is very hard to stand up to this man, but sometimes it needs to be done and someone gotta do it, and be a middle man between the Overseer and his people, so neither of them would push each other over the edge.
That's what Zachary does, for what seems like years now.

((Let me know if this is okay.))
Name: Sam Hart
Gender: Male
Job in the vault: Farmer
Age: 42
Additional information:

Sam had always been a simple man, but when the bombs fell his life became considerably more complex.  Surviving for weeks on the surface, he knew only the refuge of abandoned buildings and the company of other desperate souls, scrounging for what little food and water they could find.  After the rest of his group fell to bandits, he stumbled on Vault 21 and begged to be let in.  A few days later, he entered the vault.  But he still didn't feel safe.

Mr. Hart has become a jittery, nervous wreck that sees danger around every corner.  He is prone to overreaction, fiercely paranoid, and incredibly fatalistic.

Take a quick look at the hydroponics.  Has everything gone to shit yet?

The Vault was at one of it's more prospering times, even with crime at an alarming rate, people preferred to stay into the vault instead of leaving.

|| The fourth Overseer has been selected, welcome Richard Morris. Everyone above this post is accepted ||

The Hydroponics are working, the plants, (whatever you selected to plant) are growing at an adequate rate. Doesnt look like anything has "gone to shit yet".

You exit your office, on the higher levels of the vault, unfortunately everyone on the high levels seem to be the more higher ranking sort, so no crimes here.

Check the current Vault reserves: water, power, food, medical supplies. Once this data is collected, put together a spreadsheet on daily consumption rates and see if we are sustainable at the current level. Present results to Overseer.
See if local network is running on vault's terminals.

[4,4,2,5] ((Rolled for each item))
Water and Power are at decent levels today.
Food is quite low, there's still some stock, but only enough to feed about 2/3 of the vault
Medical Supplies are at a good level.
Local network is up and running aswell.

((Didn't get whether you were being serious or not, but you can talk through pip boys, if this was a joke then i'm a dumbass

Morris rubbed his temples. The report Zachary Grant had just forwarded to him showed a food shortage. Morris himself was a lean eater, and he hadn't eaten in a few days, but he'd wait a few more until the food dilemma was fixed.

"Emma, write down my orders for me." His assistant was poised to write for the blind man.

Message Hydroponics. Order Mr. Hart to accelerate food production.

Relay the order to begin rationing to Mr. Grant. Ensure children, the elderly and the sick gain priority. Rationing effective immediately.

Have Maintenance double check the generators and water purifiers. Ask Ms. Stubbs if she can redirect as much power as needed to Hydroponics.

Despite being blind, Morris could clearly see the boy from his nightmares, a pile of bones sewn in a sack of skin, preyed on by crows. That demon he named Starvation.

Relay the order to begin rationing to Mr. Grant. Ensure children, the elderly and the sick gain priority. Rationing effective immediately.

Execute. Make a Public Service Announcement, both on voiceover and with mail sent to terminals, conveying Overseer's order. Make that pop up on everyone's Pip-boy if possible. Assure vault residents that this is a temporary measure.

Get to the cafeteria and make sure the rations are served properly. Inspect the kitchen, try to see if any of the chefs are keeping extra food. If spotted, do not expose them immediately, just take note of that.

((I was actually curious about contacting others with a Pip-boy. Thank you for clarification.))

Done.

Look for crime at lower levels of the Vault.

[5]
Going to the lower levels, you literally enter the underworld of the Vault, as soon as you get down there, down the grav-lift, you are instantly surrounded by three thugs with tattered clothes, "We dont need your kind down here," they say recognising your clothing. You didnt bring back up either.

Relay the order to begin rationing to Mr. Grant. Ensure children, the elderly and the sick gain priority. Rationing effective immediately.

[5] ((Good rolls this round Huh))
"This is only temporary, I repeat, only temporary." Are your last words over the tannoy.

You head to the local kitchens, (since there is multiple) to check on the food being served and the chefs themselves. Two chefs eye you as you walk in, and one seems to know why you're here, "I'm sorry, my child, he is dying slowly, I had to take more food to him!"

Other than this, the food stinks a little.
