Humanoid Vermin Races
« on: January 09, 2016, 09:23:26 pm »

So I created a new world, entered adventure mode and decided to play as an animal person. While scanning the list of options, I found "Beetle man", "Worm man", "Fly man", and even "Firefly man". Forgive me for my ignorance, but since when did we have animal men who use vermin as their base creature? I quickly scanned the dwarf fortress wiki, but I didn't have any luck finding articles on them.

Toady added a bunch of animalmen (and giant animals) in 42.04. Those ones may well be new, which is why the wiki isn't caught up on them yet.

Verminmen in general have been in for ages, the 2D version had antmen.

I was aware of antmen, mothmen, etc. I just stumbled upon the giant vermin though. Weird. I can't help but think that worm men would be that great in battle.

I saw monarch butterfly men. These don't sound like adventurer material.

Mothmen have the ability to traverse time and space. They are clearly superior to all other choices.
