System: The Essence construct that allows magic to happen in the first place
School: A discipline in manipulating said Essence construct. Probably free for the first two unless there are objections

Question: Regarding agent creation, you don't include increasing an attribute as a use for an advance. Is that intentional, or an oversight?

        Advances can be spent on the following, quoted from the book:

        Gain a new Edge.
        Increase one skill that is currently equal to or greater than its linked attribute.
        Increase two skills that are currently less than their linked attributes.
        Buy a new skill at d4.

hector13: Oversight, correcting. (The book had the restriction that attributes could only be increased once per level, which I judge to be too limiting for YG especially given the core system's reputation for being nearly or around as deadly as Call of Chthulhu)

Andres: Arcane Background without a magic system: Probably, specificity has its advantages

ShadowDragon: Greater+ magical items are more durable than mundane ones. (They are listed relative to agents rather than population units because they tend to be very expensive when applied to entire populaiton units and thus less mass produced than Lesser- magic items)
