Reese, albeit stiff, responds cordially to your inquiry. "Indeed. Whilst our new friend here may not have the same sense of etiquette as I; the woodworker seemed to take well to him, as is the cook. Honestly, one would assume he's just... lucky." He gives a shrug, an out-of-place gesture for him. "Regardless, you have your two specialists, and at a premium. Mayhaps not as well as you would have gotten yourself, but I'd say he's done splendidly... in action, if not taste."

He laughs at this. "Now I see why you are aren't a warmaster. You'd be another Stonefist."

He's probably referencing something.
... Probably.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Nabih didn't like the look of the scenario. The other man seemed like a good candidate for his company but courting him would be a problem if Reece was at odds with him. He decided to avoid the topic for the moment. "I might enjoy haggling but wage is one of the few things I avoid being stingy with. When we met at the hall, you said Rashak had already left. Do you know him? If so, what is your opinion on him?"

He blinks at you. "A Clansman. Known for being big, rash, and going to war against the umgi some hundred years ago. Might've won, except he was awful at the war arts.
I take it you, too, did more of your learning in the pits than on the slate?"

"Ah... I don't wish to seem petty, but he and I don't entirely see eye to eye. He doesn't have much respect for tourney archers, or perhaps he's jealous because his skill doesn't meet mine."

"So what kind of archery does he practice? Or is he more of a trapper than a bow hunter?" Nabih continued, interested in discovering what more set them apart.

"I wouldn't be another Stonefist. I know how to fight."
He takes a deep draught of his ale. "So did he. Last one to die on the walls, and he took a hundred manlings with him. Not a bad effort for someone choking on the fumes of his ladders.

"Yes, quite possibly. Again, we don't make a habit of conversing at the best of times.

Reece didn't seem to be in the best of moods and pushing the matter would probably be a bad idea. With that in mind, Nabih sought to change topic. "I see. Let us take this moment to discuss your wages, then. We have yet to talk about them, after all."

"You said he was awful at the war arts."

"Yes. War Arts, not Sword Arts. Best killer of all time, but could not lead an army to save his life. Chieftain normally would have been in his ear, but he had been butchered a week past for trying to reign in Stonefist. A fine story, but many ogres find it displeasing, for good reason.

"True. I'm surprised at myself that I didn't bring it up at the table. I shall clearly require more luxuries than the common rabble, however as you've agreed to aid me, I cannot in good conscience take a full commission. Does fifteen, or maybe ten silver a day sound fair?"
[Notice=3]
Tiat has drifted his attention from the cook now that the deal is struck, and seems to be lazily eavesdropping.

He shakes his head incredulously as he stands. "Until next time, Stonefist. I'll be heading out at dusk from the gate, if you are to join me."

Nabih shot a pointed glance at Tiat to show he had noticed the eavesdropping before turning his attention back to Reece. "Now, now. Talking about 'rabble' might sound offensive to others, and as such it is a term best avoided. However, I do agree superior skills require superior pay. What gear do you have to your name? I planned on supplying those I recruit with finely-crafted equipment depending on their role, though those that bring their own gear surely make things easier on the pocket."

Tiat flashes an insouciant grin in reply, and with all pretense discarded, leans backward against the counter and proceeds listening, now joined by the cook slouching happily across from him.

This goes completely unnoticed by the forward-facing Reece, who replies "Ah... Yes... As for equipment, I have two bows, staff, string and spares, purchased from a master bowyer who frequents tournaments, along with enough arrows to last many battles.
I suppose, however, if I am to be in combat I might require more practical garb than my current rustics."
