Ghaminia, reasonably satisfied it was just a strange old man and not someone attempting to murder her charge, relaxed a fraction as he sheathed his sword. Her own knives, never shown, disappeared to where they came from.
She decided to let Nabih introduce them, if he so wished. Ghaminia hadn't ever been much of a social butterfly, so to speak...

After the man appeared, Nabih idly wondered if he'd ever been truly targeted by assassins and Ghaminia had dispatched them without him ever noticing them in first place. He really needed to be more attentive. "Al-Safi Nabih Shahin. Nabih for short. And this is my bodyguard and assistant, Ghaminia. Sorry about disturbing your slumber." he calmly introduced himself since Jack had initially addressed all of them. He also took a moment to size up the newcomer, trying to decide whether he was worth recruiting as well. The man had a poise that seemed like a fighting man's—at least as far as his knowledge could tell—but the paunch indicated he might not be in so great shape.

[Empathy=2]
Nabih cannot get a read on the man's skills, although he looks like a Born Soldier.
Ghamina has even less luck appraising him.

Ghaminia nodded slightly at the man as her name was mentioned.

The rest of the room, seeing the introductions beginning, pipe up respectively.

"Reece of Marburg, I believe we may have seen eachother about the country.
"Tiat McDunnhough"
"Watch-Sergeant Linney of Dashness, this is Corvin, also of Dashness and Watch-corporal Baldrick of Remner's Down"
The other guardsmen give nods, still a little on edge, and the innkeeper and his beleaguered labor-force offer no names.

"Mr.Jack, I was just here to recruit Larok to my mercenary company. How about you, are you currently looking for a job? You do have a soldier's poise." Nabih was straight to the point after evaluating the newcomer. "At the same time, have you been out of military or mercenary service for a while?"

"Mercenaries, eh? I was never much of a fan of the "dogs of war," m'self. It always unnerved me to be next to somebody who wanted to fight, for province or paycheck." The old soldier chuckles, before shaking his head sadly. "Ah, I've been out of the Regiments for a while, though, and I never put much thought into a retirement fund. I could use a job, if it pays well."

At the last remark, Jack raises an eyebrow, before grinning and patting his corpulent rotundness once or twice. "Ah, are you worried about this? Nature's armor, it is. Used to be even bigger when I was young. Nothin' quite surprises the enemy like sticking a sword up to the hilt in your gut without drawing blood, mark my words."

After giving the man another critical look, he decided to give a repeat of Larok's offer. "Four silver coins a day, with a chance of a raise when things get better. Meals will be supplied by the company."

"Hmm. Sounds reasonable to me. I suppose I might as well sign on, then. Do my best not to eat you out of house and home." Jack would reach out for a handshake, only to stop and think for a second. "Might need to track down a suit of rivet, if we're heading out anytime soon. Do you have any jobs lined up soon?"

"It is a deal then." Nabih rose an eyebrow at the man's hesitation. "Yes, we do have jobs lined up, starting with a escort task tomorrow morning. And 'suit of rivet'? Do you mean armor? Because if so, were you not singing praises to your fat just now?" he asked humorously. "On a more serious note, I do plan on supplying my employees with armor. I have a meeting tonight to take care of that."

After another moment of thought, he turned to Tiat. "How are the prices of armor here? I might purchase some for the moment while I work on my own creations." And fine creations they'd be, barring disaster. Nabih's hands were already twitchy to start working on something, and if he got some good steel to play with, he'd be delighted.

"... Rivet? Wait- Regiments??"
Reece pipes up. "A breastplate and trappings. The more wealthy companies like to outfit their personal guard in it. I'm sure your homelands would have some equivalent armors."
He turns to address Nabih.
"Sorry, but I couldn't make any guesses as to the price. It's not exactly within my area of expertise, but were I to guess it could be many thousand silver.
Teal lifts the hem of his chainmail. "Aye, me either sorry. This was issued, never thought to get it priced.

"Thousands a suit for every soldier is beyond my current means. If you want plate, you might have to wait until I've produced armor. I am a fast crafter, and Ghaminia is a competent assistant." Nabih commented. Maybe he'd purchase chain or any of the more reasonably-priced metal armors available. He felt like he'd have to update his notebook with new expenditures several times just this week.
