"I had a Cav Malėg. My opponent told me he will pay for it."

The sergeant throws an uncomprehending look over at the inkeeper, who returns a shrug and offers: "Dunno bout that, but Vurim did throw the first punch. I'll give a hoy if he doesn't pay."
The short guardsman gives a laugh.
"'Luck with that. Month's up. You can chase up the Reddies."
The innkeeper gives a pained groan, but the heat seems to be off Larok.

... Until Nabih's party walks in the door, Tiat gives a startled "Ogièr!", and levels a crossbow at him.

[SOLDIER First]

Larok calmly stands up and throws Tiat a deadly glare.

"If you shoot me with that, I will smash it over your head."

[Tack]

The corporal points at Larok with a grin.
"Look, 'E's learnin!"

Tiat, to his credit, lowers the crossbow slightly with an eloquent "Huh?"

[SOLDIER First]

The ogre repeats himself, a little more slowly and with considerably more malice.
"If you shoot me with that, I will smash it over your head."

[GiglameshDespair]

Hidden under her sleeves, Ghamina had drawn her knives, and subtly shifted to be standing in front of Nahib.

[Caellath]

Nabih frowned at Tiat's reaction, needlessly starting the meeting in the wrong way. "Were you surprised? We were coming this way exactly because we heard of the situation, remember?" he calmly pointed out before turning his attention to Larok and promptly recognizing him as the same ogre he'd met back the day before, the one who'd left the tavern to angrily chase after a racist man.

"My apologies for the bad introduction. I'm Al-Safi Nabih Shahin. You may call me Nabih. How about you?" He hoped the ogre had less of a temper than it looked like, or he'd have to give up on recruiting him.

[SOLDIER First]

"My name is Larok. Why are you here?"

[Tack]

Tiat lowers the crossbow sheepishly. "Aye, you're right. It's one thing to hear it, and another to see it... In a ruined room, surrounded by guardsmen."
He addresses Larok. "Sorry", before retreating to talk to the bemused soldiers.

Meanwhile, Reece surreptitiously begins to unpack one of his bowstaves, muttering angrily to himself.

[SOLDIER First]

Larok doesn't answer. He stares angrily at Tiat as he leaves.

[Caellath]

"Pleased to meet you, Larok. I am looking to hire mercenaries and I figured out I might see if this was an opportunity. Was this all done by you?" he inquired, gesturing towards the destroyed location.

[SOLDIER First]

"There was another. I hear his name is Vurim. We fought together."

[Caellath]

"I see. What prompted the fight?" The reason was more important than the destruction itself, after all. He didn't want offer a job to someone who'd just go around picking fights everywhere.

[SOLDIER First]

He grunts in annoyance.
"I was hired to protect a man that ended up having lied to me, and to Vurim. We fought to let out our anger and talk calmly. At dusk I intend to go out and find the liar with Vurim."

[Caellath]

Well, it could've been far worse. Judging by the sound of it, that was a cultural matter. "Would you be interested in mercenary work? I have a proposition to make."

[SOLDIER First]

"...Explain."
