On a barren world lost in the nothingness of space, a grasping spire of twisted iron reaches enviously for the stars. This spire is Hive Gortech, a nightmare land where blinding extravagance dances with crippling poverty, where both holy hymn and bullet-fire sing a song of eternal strife, where demigods laugh from their silver thrones, while you wallow in filth and flame.
You will take this no more. You and others of the same mind have decided to escape the underhive of Gortech, to pull down the cracked jewel of nobility and swarm them with fire and vengeance.
Looking deeply into a shattered mirror, you realize what this hell has made you, what the fires of strife have forged.
Name: Whether your name will be reviled or revered or simply lost to history, your name is your name.
Gender:Emperor's Tarot: A deciding factor in your life, proving that you are truly greater than the nameless hordes of the hive.
- Writhing, Wretched Body (Your mutant body has granted you unnatural Strength, but your desecration of the Holy Human Form is unforgivable, and so your Faith falters.)
- Hominid Ex Machina (The Machine God has saw fit to bless you among the Machine Spirits, thus your Intelligence blooms, but your frail flesh cannot withstand much, lowering your Constitution.)
- To Err is Human (The many mistakes made in life, whether yours or others, have steeled your heart and closed your mind. You have the Constitution of a bull, but the many crippling wounds have robbed you of your Agility.)
- To Kill is Divine (Through blade, bullet and baleful zeal, your Faith has brought flame and fury to the Underhive, although you've closed your mind and allowed your Intelligence to wane.)
- Robber Baron (Trinkets, coins and material wealth is nothing compared to freedom. Your Agility has allowed you to accrue plenty of skills (and valuables too) with your feet and hands, but your Strength is paltry.)
- Psyker (You've been blessed and cursed with your ties to the Warp. You have access to powers unimaginable, but the entirety of your self suffers.
Biography: A short retelling of your life, your appearance, and your beliefs.
There are five stats in the game: Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Agility, and Faith.
An action will depend on one of the stats, which can be boosted by many factors (such as items or being assisted) and hindered by those factors as well (such as crippling conditions). Each of the Tarot that can be chosen boosts one stat and lowers the other, while the Psyker Tarot reduces all stats but allows you the use of psyker powers.
A reduced stat will confer a -1 to a d6 roll, while an increased stat confers a +1. Any extra bonuses to the same stat will result in a better (or worse) outcome.
You will die when all your stats are reduced. Losing Strength will leave you weak and feeble, lacking Constitution will cause your body to fail, losing Intelligence will render you brain-dead, losing Agility will make you limp and crippled, and losing Faith will open your body and souls to the innumerable horrors of the far-future.
Whenever you lose in combat, you lose the stat that has been affected. The choice of your Tarot will render one stat automatically reduced from the start, but one stat needs to be lost twice for it to be fully reduced.
In actions without combat, a natural 1 will do the same trick.
This doesn't apply for regular enemies, apart from special bosses, and most will simply die from losing a roll. Psykers will die if they lose a single roll as well. Their psychic powers never fail, however.

The mud-crusted gangers took advantage of their opening, and riddled Artur with holes from their autoguns, reducing his cover to rubble and dust. Artur knew it was time to run, but his legs had other plans. They had abandoned him.

The arcane intricacies of the strange machine assaulted Teca, causing her mind to burn with wonder and fear. Though she kept her cool, and her sanity, her addled mind felt weak.

He had failed Hive and Emperor, and this was his retribution. The foul witch had planted the seed of doubt, and the rose of heresy has bloomed. Catatonic, the others let him rest, believing him to be weary. They were unaware that his thousand-yard stare was him looking eye-to-eye with the Warp.
