You're a wonder, Gwolfski. Sadly, my computer is in even worse shape than I thought, and while my FPS is a respectable 20-ish most of the time, for some reason I'm getting problems with saving (crashes, freezing, computer making a noise like an unwell cockroach).

Would you mind skipping me? I just don't think I have the time to manage this and deal with crashes and stuff, certainly not for anything like two ingame years .

did you try using dfhack's quicksave?

You don't have to play for two years; if you just want to play for three months, until the next migrant wave, until some goal you have is completed, etc. that's fine. Just don't play for ten years and kill everyone

Trying for a year is good though, unless stuff starts to explode.

Sorry about this. My CPU is just awful at the moment, as I'm on my laptop, away from my PC. I'd do it, but experienced pretty heavy crashing (a day and a half) recently. Just skip me, there's a long waitlist.

I've dug back through the thread to get the last save, which is quite a bit earlier than I had planned on picking up, but oh well! Haven't played DF in a while, and I've recently wiped my laptop, so it'll take me a little while to install and set up everything I need. Expect a first update sometime tomorrow or Friday. With two weekends to work with, I'm confident I'll be able to get through the two years at some point.
