True, I don't think I encapsulated the trattoria right.
I described the restaurant as 'the menu is whatever they felt like doing today', when it should've been more like 'the menu is whatever they feel like cooking you'.
The implication I'm trying (real hard) and failing to get across is that there is no menu.

Said Pratchett quote I can't remember was about old maladjusted divorcees with holes in their socks eating at a simple meal-place with common tables. It was one of the sadder passages I've read.

(Also that notice check was downright awful.[-][-][-][ ])

Trouble (ideas)
-Currently has death penalty on his head by dwarves due to his accidental discovery of gunpowder. Kept it a secret for about a week, then accidentally blew up his laboratory. The dwarves sent bounty hunters soon after
Weapons: Crude flintlock Pistol.
Armor: Stained, ragged nobles robes.
Equipment:
40 pre-rolled powder cartridges for pistol, more can be made given access to an apothecary.

Just letting you know...
If there was any sort of way to start the game in 'hardcore mode', being on the bad side of the Dwarves is it.
You're still welcome to make a gunpowder character, and it'll be awesome... But keep in mind that the Dwarves exterminated an entire race.
They're pretty intrinsic to the lore of the world, otherwise I'd tone them down to make it more fair on you.
But yeah. They don't send bounty hunters. They send battalions.

Well.... Since the Dwarves are in hiding, i dont think theyd go topside very often. I think that they would mostly keep their Armies at home. What i was thinking was that cocasionally some crime boss will get wind theres a price on my head, resulting in me running away. But this wouldnt happen often, because dwarves are juggling their hatred of other races and the topside world against their desire to preserve their greatest weapon.

Flintlock weapons are pretty advanced as far as the old muzzleloading weapons go, by the way. To have one, he wouldn't have had to only discover gunpowder by accident, he'd have to be capable enough to make the mechanisms as well.

No, only one person can, as only dwarves know of it until now. My guy is like the protaginist who accidentally finds a box full of blood money, prompting the mafia to go after him. Also, hes an alchemist. Alchemists mess with all sorts of things.

I think what Cael might be poking at is that he also had an inventor character, and if Cael knew he could have started with the knowledge of gunpowder, he would have.

Also, yeah, flintlocks are really quite late after the invention of gunpowder. At best you'd really have matchlocks.

I don't want to give away too much about the Dwarves without the relevant lore checks, but if they knew there was a single gunpowder pistol in Dashness- they would bring cannons and raze the city.
They're basically this game's big-bad.
