Apparently Larok believes there are rocks which make sparks and all other rocks are for throwing at people who are too far away to headbutt.

(Also broken IC. Color|Glow?)

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Headbutting is for people without swords.

Swords don't cut rocks.

..Fair enough. Rocks are dumb anyway. Taste awful and impossible to chew.

Hmm. Actually didn't have anything planned for the day for Larok. Which, in hindsight, was an oversight. A big one.

Might have to push the conflict forward from dinner.

Have I ever asked whether people prefer Third or Second person?

I'm not aware if you have, but either is fine.

I don't think so, but I'm fine with either.

Edit: And you wrote down "Caellath" instead of "Nabih" last turn.

Edit2: Are any materials necessary for magic-imbuing besides what's necessary to create the markings and time?

Hahah, well that'll teach me to write segments at 4:00am.

Uh, pure metals are nice, and a good, magic-y language.
But other than that, nope.

For example, I want to paint a charm/engrave symbols on a sword. Do you mean the sword has to be from a pure metal (which kind of discards steel due to its iron/carbon mix)?

And do you mean I have to use a magic-sounding language for charms, like not-Latin (or not-Arabic in Nabih's case) or make something up?

Nah, just gotta put some pure metals in the engraving.
Writing/painting is also better with gold leaf or something.

As for the language, basically it's the law of the world. The first languages were basically used by the "gods" (here called ancients) to communicate with the people of the world, but the ancients didn't realise that the language they were using was the one which altered it. All other languages more or less stemmed from it, although modern languages are so far removed that it's almost impossible that any word might be at all similar to any other word from then, so when you use not-latin or not-arabic, it might be better than common, but still hit and miss.
Your best languages would be the old ones like dwarvish (but good luck getting away with it) and elvish (but good luck finding someone to teach it to you).

Hence why Lore is the principle stat used in magic. Because you have to research a full etymology on the word you're looking for, go as far back as possible and then make an educated guess at finding a word which is as close as possible to the word of the ancients.

Track is done after this week. I promise I'll get back to this then. I just had no direction with her before, I think, so I was having to flail each time I posted for something to do. :/

Depending on how well the contracts pay, I'll let you exercise some freedom via Reece as to how many people we need, since the game is yours and you're more likely to have a firmer grasp on the figures. Also I'll only know the contracts' payment with the next update and the back-and-forth of replies might take a while so this saves some time. In the end, if I need more people I'll just have Nabih get them and if it's the opposite I'll just shed the less skilled extras after the mission since it's not like I need to keep everyone.

And since Nabih is going with the caravan, I need to decide what he'll do in his free time. He's going to be the company's physician and scribe for the time being, though he's hiring a cook exactly so he also doesn't have to introduce his employees to his best rendition of Eastern cuisine. I planned to have him purchase steel and rent a smithy to start working on standardized and simple but good-quality armor for his men for the sake of survivability, public image and morale - who doesn't want that kind of stuff from their boss? - though the traveling put a damper on that. Maybe putting a lot of work into charms and researching more power words, or coming up with inventions and drawing up schematics while on the cart?

I have numbers now, sort of. Makes it easier to figure men.

To clarify, what is the boost good for?
One-off aspect. Last a round so you generally use it as soon as it appears. Easy +2 I think
