Rage and crashes
« on: December 31, 2015, 09:59:51 pm »

So, this all started a few days ago. I was genning pocket worlds with long histories to adventure in. I walked into a forest retreat and got a crash. I kept trying and trying and finally reported it to the bug tracker. The next day it goes offline. I gen more worlds to try to get around this problem. I finally choose one and gen a human outsider adventurer. I walk to the nearest abandoned fortress and loot it for gems, platinum crafts, and equipment. Then, I head to the largest human town. I walk around a bit, hire some guys, drink and get equipment. Here's where things get interesting: I go to the keep and there's about five priests and a law giver. Almost immediately, a swarm of gobbos siege the keep. I help siege because for some reason no one wants to fight me, and after killing everyone, I go to claim the site. "I've forgotten my bold pronouncement..." WTF. Then the game crashes. I do literally everything up to going into town again. As soon as I get into town, I try to save and the game crashes. At this point I ragequit.

So... anyone else dealing with this?

Ninja edit: I don't have any of the saves anymore, although I could probably gen more and get similar results with no problem.

Outsiders can't claim sites, they don't have any affiliations to start from/make the claim against.

Forest retreats can get kinda crashy, I save before I am about to spend a lot of time in one, towns I actually have really good luck with crash-wise, the only regular crash i get in towns is when there are a lot of people trying to target the same enemy, trying to hit something when like twenty npcs are also trying to hit it tends to crash it pretty reliably for me.

Can't help on the rage though, this is the first and so far only game I've never gotten mad at.

Yeah, I only tend to get mad at ANY game when I lose progress or otherwise get my save broken due to a bug. So far, vanilla DF has been pretty good to me.

If you're an outsider, you can claim sites after you retire once.

You can become a hearthperson or bandit lieutenant, then you'll gain a civ affiliation.
