Missionarius Galaxia (ISG)
« on: December 31, 2015, 04:21:52 am »

Reth IV is, apparently, a Feral world rediscovered and recently conquered by the Guard. Now they need you to bring them into compliance.

Well, there goes your plans for today. And in the middle of your preaching too. Warp it all, duty calls, and the Emperor needs you to bring the  heathens to His light! Now is the time, and you must prepare.

Here's the armory. The cardinal heard the news too, and he's allowed the servitor to give you one thing for you, another for your servo-skull. Choose wisely.

Servo-skull choices:
1. Auspex (Allows advanced scanning, ranging from environmental readouts to medical reports.)
2. Laud-hailer (Amplify your voice and preach for the Emperor with a thunderous speech!)
3. Las-pistol (This humble flashlight is a devastating shock-and-terror weapon to many feral humans. Pray you don't have to use it on anyone wearing anything better than flak armor.)
4. Cherubim replacement (Upgrade your skull to a cherubim! With a greater capacity for following commands and being more durable, this is a prize possession of your Cathedral-Barge. You'll have to sacrifice your own upgrade to get this.)

Your choices:
1. Icon Staff (Spread faith and smite heathens with this two-in-one holy weapon!)
2. Library of Texts (This is worth a lot. Like, a lot. And it's holy too, and old.)
3. Eviscerator (Twice the length of a chainsword, and needs twice the hands to hold them. On the plus side, it kills with twice the speed and converts heathens with twice the fear.)
4. Artifact Power Armor (The modified, custom power armor of your ship's saint. It's kinda beat up, but it's miles ahead of any other armor you can get elsewhere. You need to give up your skull's upgrade to get this.

You point to the laud-hailer for your servo-skull, and that library of books no one can read except you. The servitor beeps and boops and fits the new gear into your pet skull, while ordering for your books and tomes and scrolls to be loaded into your shuttle.

The orders to prepare for planetfall broadcast from the cathedral's vox relays. Making yourself comfortable in a pile of musty tomes, you begin descent as the Cathedral-Barge looms over the planet's sky.

The world of Reth is lush and fresh, a rare commodity among Imperial worlds. Verdant, rolling hills blanket the landscape, and a cool breeze runs and frolics in the fields. In the distance, ominous woods promise danger and adventure, while mighty mountains lord over their lands. Rivers rush rampantly, filled with fish and other exotic foods. Eyes and thoughts into the distance, you dream of what this world could be.

Yes, a few statues of the Emperor would do nicely....

You look over the hill and see the Guard fortress, and compare it to the mighty Monastery they built for the coming of the Ecclesiarchy. Ah, how great it is to be important!

That monastery, when complete, will be your base of operations along with the other Torchbearers. In the meantime, you and your congregation will make temporary camps. You, personally, will live with the indigenous tribes, converting them to the true god of Mankind.

According to your dataslate, there are three major clans on Reth IV.

The Muntun, brutish warmongers who fight atop the craggy summits of their mountains. It is rumored among the Guardsmen that they worship the Archenemy.

The Rivror, freakish cave-dwellers who lurk beneath their swamps. Many among them are mutants, but those things will be burned eventually. Its the humans you want! The Guard say they consort with vile xenos!

The Furist, dangerous enigmas who prey upon the unaware from their forested kingdoms of shadow and sin. Not much is known about the Furist....

Your flock look to you to lead them in setting up camp! Only so much can be spared until the supply caravans come, so you must prioritize what to build first. Then, you must prepare to leave for a tribe and convert them.

What do we need to build? Let's set up tents/sleeping spaces to start with. We'll oversee the process to make sure everything is ordered and as the Emperor would want it. After that, we should tend to sanitation, food preparation and a medicae tent - can't go 'round catching every local illness, now can we?

The Muntun should be our first priority. They should make fine soldiers in His armies when properly tamed, and it is our duty to investigate those claims of Chaos worship.

The tents should be the first things to set up, as decreed in the Litany of Camping, verses 11 to 36. Making sure the tarp is clean and worthy for human use, a campsite is erected at the base of the mountain where the Muntun are said to dwell. Next stockpiles are assigned and cleaned, and you deem the ground sanitary and consecrated, allowing it for food preparation. A small stream provides melted water from the mountain, used for cleaning and consumption. Finally, a medicae tent is erected.

Pleased with the accommodations for your flock, you pray silently for a moment to thank the Emperor for their daily bounty, and that they might be protected from harm. You pack your provisions, grab a book and a few scrolls, and prepare for your first mission.

The climb is arduous, to say the least, and halfway to the summit your legs wobble and your lungs are short of air. Only your faith moves you forward. The craggy slope, made slippery by ice and snow, tests your body, your mind, and your spirit. The chilling wind bites deeply, and many times you wondered if it were prudent to wear more than a robe.

That would be heresy, however, as robes should be all that is worn by missionaries, as stated in the Hymns of Humility.

Finally, you reach a Muntun encampment. Praise to Him on Terra! Crouching behind brown, thorny bushes, you watch with curiosity.

How do you approach these heathen brutes?

Let's be direct. Greet our new neighbors, inquire how they are, and let them know that they can visit us anytime at our camp/monastery.
