That is a problem I have been wrestling with. IC,  it makes total sense for the empire to be backing you, but the other two nations do not have that.

For fairness though, I've decided the empire doesn't give a damn about who rules the Isles,  so long as they get to trade with them. If you can think of a fair way to get them more involved though, I'm all ears.

Regarding cost: I am dropping all passive reductions in cost and complexity. You can still gain the same things from an action. I will also be leaving the current reduced stuff as is, unless people feel reparations should be made.

Well, I guess the other nations could get some support from other nations... like, dunno, Napoleonic France once we get that far, or something... Russia?
Where are Roberts Islands anyway?
EDIT:
Guys...
Also, interesting game is interesting, keep up the good work. I think perhaps I will join the first faction to invent a hot air balloon.
I feel pressing need for an air force. We could make balloons that start off ship decks and drop incendriaries on their cities. Or something.

It's in the North Atlantic, somewhere just outside the Carribean.

Well, we should get some support from the British empire, considering our island is restricted to a maximum of 2 resources, whereas the large island has no limits on the amount of resources that can be extracted.

And the removal of the passive reduction, while understandable, is troubling considering the fact that our entire last turn was done with that in mind. Without the passive reduction, everything done that turn is completely useless.

So, maybe we should get extra resources from the empire as time progresses? Or maybe one-off shipments of weapons and equipment?

I'll work something out. Be assured that you will be receiving some form of support from the Empire. I appreciate the suggestions you are making however, so feel free to give more.

So, anyway, back to designing stuff.

I have a few proposals.

Steam Engine

Though the benefits will take at least 2 turns to realize, it would allow us to make great advances in making our naval units cheaper, as well as any future weaponry.

Congreve rocket

A rocket based weapon. This can function as both an infantry support weapon, a naval bombardement weapon, and a cavalry support weapon. The relatively light launchers can be easily deployed by cavalry, resulting in suprise bombardements. Sadly, the weapons are rather inaccurate.

Carronade

A massive cannon, but with extremely short range. Without rangefinders, targetting things at range is very hard. A Carronade sacrifices range for extreme firepower, and if installed on a highly mobile ship, can easily devastate enemy navies.

You guys already know my vote is for the steam engine(been trying to get that for the last 2 turns).

As for revision, definitely revise our percussion cap manufacturing to be cheaper, and again modify the breech to be stronger on the Mod A rifle.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

On a side note, with the turn post now fixed it appears that one of our enemies has stolen our wagonways. That means that both of them will be getting an extra resource next turn.

[BAT SIGNAL]
Do we get the additional revision action before the design action?
[/BAT SIGNAL]

Again, if our revision makes the tech less complex, I'm all for breechloading rifled cannons. If not, we can go for steam engines.

Oh! How about this:
We design a steam engine, revise our rifle and, with the second revision action, upgrade our 6lb artillery to rifled muzzle-loaders, increasing range and accuracy.
Should we get the revision first, we revise our rifle. If doesn't help us with breechloading, we'll leave everything as above. If it does, we instead design a 9 or 12-pound breech-loading rifled cannon, and either revise it or revise the London class to carry it.

Speaking of which, what do we offer the Americans? Londons?

The revision credit can be used during the revision phase.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to try another tech that won't be invented for 70 years.
