Hi guys.

I'm sorry for dropping this,  I've had a difficult few weeks at work,  and I'm expecting a few more. I don't want to abandon this entirely though, so if you guys are okay with a very slow turn around for a while,  I'll be able to keep this going. Or we can go on hiatus, whichever you all prefer.

I could come back to assist if it would prove to speed up the turns.  Was somewhat thinking of running a space age version of the game, but getting this going again would also work.

LOL, I was thinking of doing a sci-fi version that's two planetary empires competing for space! Great minds think alike huh?

Though, given my track record as GM, I've had severe doubts on doing it and would rather have someone else run it. But that's if this doesn't continue

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I've been thinking of doing a more steam punk version of this, setting it like the war of the worlds.
It first i was plaining to do it as a fan squeal to Sensei's Arms Race.

Having aliens use there own units and measurements lets you hand wave a lot of result fudging.
Haveing human's let us still be grounded and not just keep making bigger laser cannons.

The attack of aliens let both sides make more than just the normal tank, plane and battle ships, have
Martian war Tripods Vs Mech armour.
And if the humans do to well thay can always spilt up in to Arstotzka and Moskurg again

The setting as i have it is.

The united countery of Arstotzka! Arstotzka number one! Moskurg nothing! Forenia has been invaded by the Martians.

Martians have invaded due Arstotzka's glory Forenia's advanced industry and remote location making it the idea staging post for the invasion of earth.

In the time since the end of the last game the new Forenian government has faced crippling war debits from the 25 years of war.
Hence most of the army ha been disbanded and the vast arms stockpiles sold at fire storm prices
to helped to fund new more diverse industry's but heavy machinery, vodka and motorbikes remain the top exports

And now the weak army of the new Forenian government must face a new threat fro the skys.

You know as a not-necessarily-post-game analysis, we have very possible accidentally the future here. The French Revolutionary war is almost certainly going to be stirred up a bit if a decent portion of the tech here ends up in the hands of Britain in some capacity. Objectively better rifles on multiple fronts, artillery that already matches what Napoleon had at the time, a rough version of an Agar Gun...

All in all the British are probably going to have a much better time of the whole thing.

The joys of setting games in anything resembling historical earth.

Now, one set post-cataclysm may be interesting, or a colony world without access to space.
Or, heck, one set after a timeline divergence.

I should note that one of my plans was to have the three nations here wind up duking it out with the Loyalists supporting the British invasion of Forenia and having the other two support either Moksburg or Arstotzka.  Maybe the British coming out in a better condition from the Napoleonic wars and these two places actually existing may have allowed them to take such a venture?  I have a couple ideas of a connecting piece I could write up that could serve as the capstone to this thread that would give a rough idea of the events between now and the beginning of Sensei's game.  Would only be a rough outline so stuff can be filled in by other games that we could build up an Arms Race universe of some kind.

I like the idea of an shared Arms Race universe.

If we wind up doing this, can someone get me a list of all the events that occurred outside of Forenia and the trades it performed?  I need to know what I need to work around.

Out of curiousity, what are the opinions on the added mechanics (ex. Would it be better to keep or remove the new phases?)?  I'm thinking about removing one or two in order to speed things up in the next game I might run, but I want to know general opinions upon the topic.

I like the focus phase that give some kind of tactical power to the players, but it does distract a bit from the design of weapons. Espionage probably should be nerfed (or maybe even abolished altogether). Also, please keep it to two sides only.

Was thinking of having that phase replaced with a 'recommendation' phase to essentially tell the generals where the best front for the use of the new tech would be.

Was going to make it's results according to a d100.

Are you referring to just the player sides, or both the player and NPC factions?  And out of curiosity, is the reason for wishing to limit the factions due to the length of time it takes to deal with the numerous factions, or some other difficulty that results from having multiple factions?

Player sides. Too many player sides means less players per side (so less debate), and it also means that two sides ganging on one are going to win easily.
