Mass Pitting Problems
« on: December 30, 2015, 09:43:08 am »

I have been attacked quite a few times by goblins and have racked up quite a few goblins.  The only thing is, I am unable to put them down into the pit.  I cannot even strip them!  I've been doing everything right; I have the hatches above which are forbidden and the stockpile set as well.  I am able to pit all the animals but no goblins.  What am I doing wrong?

I have also tried to strip the goblins but when I hover over them with -k- all that shows up are their bodies.  No clothing or anything.

For mass pitting i have not done this since 34.11 so i can't say.

For the item removal, i remember that after building the cage , i had to press d - b - d and mark the whole area for dumping, then go with k for every cage and remove the dump mark for them.

Once done , the dwarves would come to dump all the items worn by the goblins but would not dump the cages themseves.

You cannot do that to sentient creatures in current version.
No idea whether it is a bug or a feature, though.

Will putting them into cages attached to levers and then releasing lever a viable option?

Well, that should always be an option. It's quite tedious though.

Another methode might be "bringing the cages to the trade depot". Since goblins aren't "tame" they will be dumped out and therefore freed from the cages.

stripping them should work fine though.
Perhaps you are forgetting to claim the items? They arrive on the map forbidden. Your dwarves won't strip and dump forbidden items.
So to dump, build the cage, d-b-c over it, then d-b-d over it, and don't forget to cancel the dump order on the cage itself
