"Be careful, Captain. Between her and Alain you seem intent on harassing the wrong kind of people. You may be strong but a strong arm will do little to dissuade magic or an assassin's blade."

Time being weird in Lordran Truskhang, Ariston does the below at some nebulous point after finishing with the Firekeeper though they're still talking right now:

Relieves Typhos of everything except his Estus Flask, pops the Souls, and gives the Iron Figurine to Damon.
Gets all weapons repaired to full except for his Rusty Axe and Hatchet, and Rosalia's Training Bow.
Buys one Heal Staff for Sacha, one Iron Lance for Damon, one Iron Axe for himself, one Iron Bow for Rosalia.
Has his Hatchet repaired to 10 QL.
Takes the Fool's Ring from Rosalia and gives it to Iris.
Gives the Slim Sword and Damon's Iron Sword to Yilda.
Takes Rosalia's crossbow and gives it to Alain.

[SOLDIER First]

"Are you suggesting Alain would try to kill me?"

[Nerjin]

"Who knows why assassins do anything? Their minds are as oblique to me as your armor. I'm just suggesting caution when it comes to questioning the wrong sorts."

[Twinwolf]

"And... why do you think Alain is an assassin?"

[Nerjin]

Sacha started at the new entrant to the conversation. Lowering her voice further, in case Alain were to hear, she continued.

"What librarian knows how to use a knife as she does? What librarian is that comfortable in combat? What librarian can use a crossbow? She's more than she claims."

[SOLDIER First]

"Sacha, it can't be that hard to pull back a string and then squeeze a trigger. Alain is a smart woman; surely she figured it out for herself."

[Nerjin]

"No, it really isn't. But her familiarity with it... It's not hard to swing an ax or a sword either. But you can tell when someone skilled picks on up can't you? Little things... If I were to pick up a sword and Typhos picked up a sword you'd easily see which of us are more familiar with the weapon. The sort of... familiarity that only comes with us."

"...Replace the Gods?" Yilda was quiet at that. The thought was hardly enticing. At the same time, however, it was her only way forward. And there was no one else to take her place. At least, not for now. "...If I am able, I will do my duty."

[SOLDIER First]

"I won't waste breath arguing it. I'll do my best to protect you from this assassin if, by some minute chance, you happen to be correct."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I know how you feel. Someone like me, a God? It sounds like a terrible joke, yet it's the only sense I can make of the fact we need to kill the fallen kings and take their thrones."

Yilda turned her gaze on Ariston. "General, forgive me, but of those here I think that you and the Captain are better suited than anyone else. You've spoken much about your failures, but I do not think they make either of you lesser men. As it stands you are gallant, brave and honorable, and I don't think I would have faith in our journey if the two of you were not here with us." Yilda reached up to cradle her neck as she turned her eyes back to the ground. "..."

[Nerjin]

"I won't waste breath arguing it. I'll do my best to protect you from this assassin if, by some minute chance, you happen to be correct."

"Its not me who's been harassing them. It's you I'm worried about."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Ariston sighed.

"It's... It's not just that. What about you? You don't seem particularly ill-qualified yourself."

"...Perhaps." If you feel that way, it is only through careful concealment of my lesser qualities. I swear to do my best to never break the illusion. Yilda looked back over at the firekeeper. "To take the mantle of a god can be no easy task. I imagine they will not give them up lightly."
