Also, didn't you die in the war, anyway? How else would you be here, five or perhaps six centuries later? Odds are, calm and collected, and awake and alert both gave you even odds of survival. Either way, you seem to have lost. Maybe you should try the other one this time around?" She commented dryly, with a slight smile. There was probably some wisdom in her words, but it was unlikely either of the persons talking would ever realize it.

[SOLDIER First]

"No I did not. I did not die in the war, but after, because of my own failures during it. I would appreciate if you could stop pretending you know what you are talking about."

[Dwarmin]

"Fair enough, you didn't die in a war because you failed, you died because of the war that you failed in. Which ever way you want to cut your po-tay-toes, Captain. Still, doesn't say much for your life choices...

On the other hand, at least you managed to die just in time, to live forever as an improbable lance swinging ghost with a bit of lumber on your pauldron. So I suppose something should be said for your timing.

...'Something'." She said, enjoying this conversation quite a bit.

Ariston paused for a second and dug out the shard he was carrying.

"Also, can you tell me what use this is?"

[SOLDIER First]

Damon doesn't do anything.

"The lords of this realm have faded, and become mere shadows of what they were - but their souls are yet great furnaces to drive back the dark. You must claim these souls. A monarch who cannot defend their throne is no True King. Their withered forms... perhaps even a mortals with the weight of destiny behind them can triumph."
She regarded the glassy-green fragment Ariston held out.
"Ah... a fragment of an estus flask, yet some power yet remains."
She held out a delicate hand.
"With such a shard, I may strengthen thy own."

Rosalia wanders into the shop, and appraises the bows. The longbow would be strong and have good range, but it was too unwieldy for her tastes. The iron bow was more like it, but her own training bow, mostly used for show, still had it's advantages and it could be repaired. When she realized what was used as currency here - no gold, but souls - she recalled something. A glowing orb she'd found... somewhere. She brought it out of her pocket, and on instinct crushed it in her hand. The souls within it came out, ready for use.

Having finally regained some semblance of calm Sacha began her trek towards where everyone else seemed to be congregating. Having arrived she caught merely the last portion of the conversation with the firekeeper.

"A shard such as this?" Sacha said holding out her own Estus shard.

You were sitting at the table. The smell of fresh bread filled the air, rising from the bowl of warm buns in front of you. You reached for one, and a ladle rapped the back of your hand.
"Oi, you," she scowled playfully. "Don't you be eating those yet."
You rub the back of your hand, but grin back.
"They won't miss one," you say, and she rolls her eyes but nods.
"Fine then, you glutton!" she laughs.

The memory evaporates like fog in the morning sun.

"A shard such as this?" Sacha said holding out her own Estus shard.

Give the Firekeeper the Estus Shard

"Such as that."

She took the shard and cupped it in her hands. It glowed, breaking down into a tight light held between her fingers.
"Offer forth thy flask, so it may be strengthened, and thee with it."

[Nerjin]

"Hm..."

Give over my flask

[SeriousConcentrate]

Ariston also strengthens his flask.

"So too the Gods. Even the divine are not immune to this curse."

"Then... we are to replace the dead gods. That's why we need Iris, isn't it? Seven gods. Seven undead warriors. By usurping their power we too might gain the ability to reshape this world. To forge it as we desire. To end the curse that binds our lives. To free us all. Is that the way of it, Lady Sarinna?"

[Dwarmin]

"... ... ..."

Iris gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, making a 'bong' sound on his armor.

"Don't worry Captain, the past is the past. I'm sure you'll do better much, now that I'm around." She claimed.

"Then... we are to replace the dead gods. That's why we need Iris, isn't it? Seven gods. Seven undead warriors. By usurping their power we too might gain the ability to reshape this world. To forge it as we desire. To end the curse that binds our lives. To free us all. Is that the way of it, Lady Sarinna?"

Sometime later, after her conversation with the good Captain...

She didn't seem all too pleased with the Firekeepers words.

"Reshape the world? What can you do with a ruined canvas?" She said quietly. Iris had always believed the world was beyond saving...at least, in its current state...

Action: I strengthen my flask too! If I have one. And you can strengthen multiple flasks. Or if I have something that lets me do that.

[SOLDIER First]

The good captain pushes her hand away.

"Do not. Touch me."
