"I shouldn't have fallen for the trick that resulted in half of my men being captured in the first place, Damon."

He sighed and looked to Alain when she spoke.

"I understand what you're trying to do, but it's a small comfort. Thank you, regardless."

[Tiruin]

"So how are you feeling now?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

What an odd question.

"Apprehensive. Curious about what we will find further on. Yourself?"

[SOLDIER First]

Damon made to argue, but thought better of it as Alain spoke.

"...Chronicles of history..."

[Tiruin]

"Giddy. It's like exploring legends."

Alain shows her Estus Shard and strange Soul from her inventory-satchel.

"Moreover, comfortable. I'm with good allies--I've nothing to fear as long as I'm with them. How's about the rest of you?"

[SOLDIER First]

"... ... ..."

"I have lived many decades; centuries, even, from your account. It was no less than slow, lonely torment. There is little I wouldn't do to make better my existence while the Curse plagues me, Alain, and making this journey with all of you is far from that minuscule category."

[Twinwolf]

"...I'm kind of scared. I'd have to be stupid not to be. But... it could be worse. I'm not alone, at least."

[Nerjin]

Sacha ponders the question for a moment before responding.

"Absolutely livid. The gods have the power to do much and yet they allow men like the general and captain to be tortured eternally until they turn into these... abominations." She gestures briefly towards the hollow captain "I'm a relatively fresh undead. I cannot imagine the torture these two must have felt. Still..." Sacha sighs "I do find the lot of you to be worthwhile companions. It takes a bit of the sting away you know? Of losing everything."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"A lot of things, miss Sacha. None of them good."

"If we hadn't had each other, I might not be so different than the ones we just fought."

[SOLDIER First]

"Nor I... We were very fortunate."

[Sirus]

Typhos listened silently to the words of his traveling companions, not bothering to offer words of empty comfort. What good would they be?

: "I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. Not as fresh as you, Sacha, but not yet as...historic...as you two professional soldiers. Still, I don't see much to accomplish by dwelling on past agonies."

[SOLDIER First]

"If we allow the past to escape our minds we cannot possibly hope to learn from it."

[Twinwolf]

"I think I was cursed... was it a month ago? Maybe 2. Recently."

[Sirus]

: "And if you obsess on the past you'll lose sight of the future - the one thing we can actually have an effect on. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the next few weeks than I am about my first death or any of the injustices I've faced since then."

[SOLDIER First]

Damon doesn't respond, instead nodding slowly.
