vs
2Phil acquires 4 base herbs and a base herb cutting!
The act of harvesting plants causes the ground to wake up, but Phil runs away before it can do anything. He goes to the town!
[
1] Unfortunately, every vendor he has gone to laughs at his face. "Nobody wants to buy base herbs," one says, between chuckles. "They're barely herbs because of their use as reagents, but are as common as grass and tastes like it too!"
[
2] The same story with the mana potions, though people are more polite. "We don't have mage folk around here," one kindly-looking lady says. "You should try selling those to adventurers that pass by every often. They usually have mage folk with them."
Phil also retroactively regains 22 bronze because Skyrunner has figured out a way to calculate repair costs.`

Mergol:
[
5] Mergol easily finds the village smith. Smith greets Mergol with a hearty laugh and invites him to look at his rack of toolheads.
"I have all sorts of metals here, and I can make tools out of any metal if you just pay me for the shippin' and handlin' and stuff. Do you want a hoe, or..?"
IRONWOOD HOE: Not repairable. 6 durability. 13 bronze.
IRON HOE: 8 durability. 22 bronze.
BRONZE HOE: 10 durability. 45 bronze.

Nigel:
Nigel carefully scatters a single infernal herb's pieces over the land.
The area instantly catches fire and burns up, leaving the ground with a hard crust but fertile. ("needs clearing" is now +0%. +hard crust. +25% production for one harvest.) The hard crust will probably make it a little annoying to break up the dirt to plant something.
Incidentally, being burned hurts, and the earth writhes in pain.

Roland:
[
6] The dirt makes waves and ripples. It is probably trying to communicate something! But you don't speak Dirt. However, the ripples knock some of the shallowly planted bloody herbs over, reducing POTENTIAL by 10%.
While the earth is distracted, Roland quickly plucks all the other herbs out.

vs
3 DC
Roland does not do a very good job, and gains one bloody herb along with some bloody herb shoots.

EARTH:
Now just one moment here, you think. While PYROCLASTIC DEATH FROM ABOVE, KARATE GNOMES and UNHOEABLE DIRT sounds nice and all, aren't you jumping the horse, so to say? A couch potato does not simply become a master archer in a fortnight. They have to prepare some foundations before it's even remotely possible to shoot a bow.
Likewise, perhaps it is better to practice how to wield your new sentience against people with less DETERMINATION, DEVOTION and DESTINY than these four people, and instead terrorize some hapless farmers first. And before you can do that, you should probably build up resources like MAGMA or TECTONICS.
